Eagles sign Terrell Edmunds

Seems like he's gotten better each year. Feel like fans remember his rookie and 2nd year and maybe mix that into the past 2 or 3 years where he's been solid. I'm also assuming he wasn't out there to necessarily create splash plays or really put in a position to do so unlike Minkah.

No, Edmunds issue is that he doesn't do anything great but still has weaknesses. Usually if you have a weakness and can compensate with strength that's cool, but to not really have any standout abiliites but still have some flaws is concerning. He's looked better the last 3 years because Minkah has been able to cover any deficiencies. He will have a long NFL career but he won't be a Pro Bowler or anything like that. If the Birds can replicate their pass rush from last year he'll be fine.

Yeah I'm guessing we're not really expecting pro bowl play out of him. Just want steady play back there with him and Reed. Having Slay and Bradberry as his corners should be a nice change for him. Would imagine that'll make his job easier/cover up some stuff.

It sounds like he is the safety equivalent of QB purgatory. You can do worse, but ultimately he ain't really helping you win. Undoubtedly a big downgrade from CGJ. Would prefer him competing with Blankenship for SS, and us drafting another safety to replace CGJ and his ability to cover a slot WR in a pinch/start at FS.

Solid deal, IMO. He's absolutely no CGJ, but he adds a floor to the position for a superbowl contender. Keeps S from being just complete trash if things don't pan out right. Don't think you can afford to go into the season if you're Philly losing 1800 snaps at S and just kind of hoping that Blankenship, Wallace, and whoever you get in the draft is enough. Edmunds (and honestly, Justin Evans as well) at least means you have someone back there who has been a functional starter in the league already, in case a rookie doesn't wind up ready or the draft doesn't fall right to get one.
