Round 1
28. Cincinnati  - Michael Mayer | TE | Notre Dame

Can definitely see it.  Not sure if they value the position enough to use rd 1 on it, they tend to go CB/PassRusher/WR/OL, but it's a need and Mayer is starter ready.  Breese, Kancey, Harrison, Smith, Forbes all feel like reasonable options as well, maybe a couple more.  Wouldn't be shocked if they traded out of rd 1 if they got a decent enough offer.

Round 2
59. Cincinnati  - Julius Brents | CB | Kansas State

Definitely intrigued by Brents elite athleticism, and it's not like he's a zero in the tangible skills department either.  I'd be pretty happy with this pick and more young talent is needed in the CB room.  RB is a strong option here as well, and it's about the area they like to take them, but I also don't think they force it if they see it as a reach.  They'll ride out this season with Mixon if need be, but a RB in rds 2-4 is a strong possibility.  TE if they don't take one in rd 1 maybe, OT is probably taken in rd 1 or 2 or not at all.  If it's a later pick for OL, it'll probably be interior OL depth to battle it out, a C specifically.

Round 3
92. Cincinnati  - Devon Achane | RB | Texas A&M

I could see it, although if they draft Achane or another smaller speed back, Mixon likely stays as the power counterpoint to be featured in 3-4 games a year where power is needed, and otherwise someone like Achane would really eat into his playtime.  Wouldn't rule out WR either if there is a slot guy they like.  They like to plan ahead and this is likely Tyler Boyd's last year in Cincinnati with the Higgins and Chase extensions coming, unless he takes a way below market deal to keep the band together.

Round 4
131. Cincinnati  - Brandon Joseph | S | Notre Dame

This is about the earliest I could see them taking a S, and even then I doubt it.  Set starters in Dax Hill and Nick Scott, they drafted Tycen Anderson last year to back up SS, and Michael Thomas backs up FS and is the special teams captain they brought back with a new contract.  I doubt they carry 5 safeties, but maybe if they really like the guy.  Good area for a RB or TE if they don't take one earlier, could see a pass rusher here (I like Diaby, although he is older).  I think day 3 they will focus more on athletes with maybe an elite trait but lacking elsewhere.

Round 5
164. Cincinnati  - Anthony Bradford | IOL | LSU

This is precisely the kind of OL pick I can see if they wait until day 3.  Elite athlete, big guy, a ball of clay for Frank Pollack with little risk coming from pick 164.  Big fan of this pick.  Could also see someone like Deuce Vaughn here EVEN IF they take another RB earlier if it's more of a bigger every down back and then Vaughn to be the change of pace.

Round 6
207. Cincinnati  - Jalen Cropper | WR | Fresno St.

Cropper is a guy who has been on my radar as a day 3 guy the Bengals might be interested in to see if he is groomable in the slot that might be a good scheme fit for life after Boyd.  Ronnie Bell being another one I could see.  A few guys that have piqued my interest.  I could see Hickman this late if they are interested in a S that they could maybe stash on the practice squad for a year.  They also had a private workout with Aiden O'Connell and haven't re-signed Brandon Allen as of yet, so could see a cheap Burrow backup be taken later in the draft. Could also see maybe an athletic LB to challenge the back of the room and be a special teams competition go in this range.

Round 7
247. Cincinnati  -  Sidy Sow | IOL | Eastern Michigan

No issues here, although I doubt they take 2 IOL in one draft given how the OL room is right now.  Could maybe see a punter, but unless they trade down for more picks, I don't think they use one on a specialist if they only use 7 picks in the draft.  In past drafts they only use one on a specialists when they have 10+ picks.

All in all a decent draft, kind of draft i'd probably give a B or maybe a B+ if the draft Kool Aid hits early.  Given the board on each pick, I think I might go like this with the Bengals picks:

28. Calijah Kancey, DT, Pitt
60. Tucker Kraft, TE, SDSU
92. Israel Abanikanda, RB, Pitt
131. Mekhi Garner, CB, LSU
164. Anthony Bradford, IOL, LSU
206. Jalen Cropper, WR, Fresno State
247. Aiden O'Connell, QB, Purdue

Bears draft seems to be the consensus pick for most mocks I’ve seen. Wouldn’t be mad about it. Would’ve been nice if Tuli lasted to the second second, but Hall is a good consolation prize. 5 new starters.

31. Kansas City  - Jalin Hyatt | WR | Tennessee
63. Kansas City  - Matthew Bergeron | OT | Syracuse
95. Kansas City  - Zacch Pickens | DL | South Carolina

122. Kansas City (From Miami) - Sean Tucker | RB | Syracuse
134. Kansas City  - Dylan Horton | Edge | TCU

  1. No to Hyatt. The Chiefs want WR from this draft but not a long reach like this. If receiving is key go with Dalton Kincaid. Otherwise, Anton Harrison or one of the Edge.
  2. Bergeron is solid if they don't grab Harrison. If they do then Dexter, Z Harrison, Kraft, or Young.
  3. This is a bit high for Pickens. Karl Brooks for DL. This is where you start to get serious about WR, RB, TE in addition to OT and DL.
  4. Tucker and Horton are meh. 4th round out is BPA, even QB and IOL.

Ahmed/Gaskin are both role players, Mostert is 31, and they're not committed to any of their RB's financially after this season. Mostert/Wilson had their moments but you were still one of the worst running teams in the league and neither guy provides anything in the passing game. I know the 49ers coaching tree doesn't typically value RB's that highly but I'm sure McDaniel saw how much CMC's receiving ability changed the 49ers offense last year, Gibbs is going to be a stud 3 down back.

Miami was about mid-pack in yards per carry last season.

With the way their roster is right now, I think they go for a guy who they think can start Day One at OL or TE, where there's a pronounced hole in the starting lineup. Unless they do something more in FA.
