jpaulthe1st
This was a pretty fun exercise to go through. I’ve amped up the pre-draft research the past 3-4 weeks and thought I’d take a stab at nailing what is an incredibly crucial draft for the Las Vegas Raiders. Ideally, I would have packaged some of the later picks for an additional 4th or 5th but instead I just opted for a single trade in the first round. Thoughts and feedback are welcome and appreciated. 2023 First and Final Mock Draft: **TRADE** Oakland Raiders receive (10) and (30) Philadelphia Eagles get (7) Jalen Carter and (70) Marvin Mims Jr. 10. Devon Witherspoon, CB Illinois Highly competitive and instinctive CB that will slot in as our CB1 for years to come 30. Bryan Bresee, DT Clemson High upside DT that checks the character, size, athleticism, and coachability boxes. Injury question marks are the only reason he slips to 30. 38. Jack Campbell, LB Iowa Well rounded massive LB prospect that should develop into a 3-down LB with solid coverage instincts. 100. Zack Kuntz, TE Old Dominion Took a bit of a flyer here on a H/W/S TE prospect who could develop into a field stretching/RZ threat. 109. Tyjae Spears, RB Tulane Preparing for life after JJ with this pick. I like Zamir White but year after year teams find difference makers at the RB position in this range. 141. Isaiah McGuire, Edge Missouri Big and athletic with high end RAS score. The thought here is that he could develop into an early down DE that can set the edge with some pass rushing upside. 144. Ricky Stromberg, OG Arkansas Best interior lineman left at this spot. Has some positional versatility between C and G and could enable us to move on from Andre James this year or next. 174. Jarrett Patterson, G Notre Dame See commentary on Ricky Stromberg above. Ditto 204. Jalen Moreno-Cropper, WR FSU Slippery and Uber athletic WR that could develop into Hunter Renfrow’s replacement. Undersized but is a playmaker that could contribute as a KR/PR. 214. Nick Herbig, Edge Wisconsin Productive OLB at Wisconsin that could latch on as a Special Teams contributor and potential Pass Rush specialist. 220. Max Duggan, QB TCU Training camp competition that could develop into a backup for our QBOTF (2024 draft pick). Destined for the practice squad. 231. Marte Mapu, LB Sac State Undersized small school LB that could make the roster as a Special Teams contributor and LB depth. More than likely will end up on the Practice Squad.

I would’ve liked to keep the pick #70 but I don’t think you wanted to miss on Witherspoon so you couldn’t move down that much. The way hobbs been a dui magnet idk about bringing in his friends

I like the mock and I really like Bresee Edited April 24, 2023 by raidr4life
jimkelly02
A++. Any draft that nets Witherspoon and Breese is great imo.

ronjon1990
Definitely A+ for me. Would've double dipped LB over Edge, but that's neither here nor there as the talent is good and the slotting is sensible.
Devilshark69
Again very solid, and yes getting Campbell (my personal draft crush this year.lol) is definitely an A for me. I like the herbig pick as well.👍👍

Love Witherspoon after a trade down, Campbell and Kuntz picks and I can get on board with Bresee at 30 certainly. Stromberg, Patterson and Herbig are all on my radar too so I really like this mock. Seems pretty realistic too but who knows right? 🙂
