How do you see it playing out once the 4 weeks are up? Asking for a concerned fantasy owner.

The only good outcome for fantasy managers is a trade.   There’s zero chance of an extension.   He’ll have to be on the 53-man roster for 8+ weeks but there’s no guarantee he’ll play above the minimum.

The 4.3M salary means passing on half a season isn’t nearly as punitive as with a bigger annual salary - once the service time requirements are met all bets are off.   As long as he’s in IND without an extension (and Irsay appears adamant) there’s no way to feel like the situation’s settled.

It's unfortunate that the whole storyline has turned into what it has because this right here is the main point and if Irsay had played it smarter, he would have said this and only this. It may not have held up completely, but at least it's reasonable to say hey, he had a down year, we had a down year, let's see how this year goes. But nope...

Reading between the lines, it's pretty clear that Taylor's "injury" issue wasn't a barrier - so it's far more than likely this is a hold-in.

When Taylor first injured his ankle last season, he felt the Colts pushed him to play before the ankle was ready. Taylor felt pressure from interim head coach Jeff Saturday to suit up and help his team on a bum ankle. The result was the ankle got worse, and so did the Colts.

Taylor had surgery on the ankle in January to help clean out what was ailing him in 2022. Eight months later, the ankle is still not healed, and Taylor feels the Colts are to blame. The trust Taylor had in the organization has been tarnished.

Quote

"When you’re still having effects from last year’s surgery and still having pain and not 100 percent – we’re not going to put a player on the field that’s still complaining with pain in the ankle," Ballard stated. "I’m not going to do that. I wouldn’t do that to any player. I wouldn’t treat anybody any different. So what Jonathan will do is he will rehab his butt off and try to get himself ready to go.”

Now maybe Taylor is lying about the pain (although when I suggested he might have did that in regard to his back, some said he was too good of a guy to lie about something like that, so then it just comes down to choosing what to believe), or maybe it is another sign that Taylor really isn't healed up.  I don't think it is far-fetched that a contender like the Dolphins would be willing to trade for him in spite of that if all it meant was waiting another 4 or however weeks.  They have been an aggressive organization over the last few years.  And is it really easier to believe the Colts would be doing JT a favor by keeping him on PUP than it be that JT indeed hasn't recovered from his ankle surgery the way both parties would like?

The Colts basically wanted to send Jonathan Taylor for Jaylen Waddle+2nd, Christian Wilkins+2nd or Robert Hunt+2nd.

Tell the public you're totally unwilling to trade the guy without telling them you're totally unwilling to trade the guy.

"Johnathan Taylor is totally available for 10 1sts, 10 2nds, a reanimated prime Randy Moss, $50 billion, and a lifetime supply of Pear edition Red Bull."
