MD4L
ROME Offense Formations /Approach Formations /Approach This week, again, we want to pound the rock up the middle again behind our line against a hobbled lb group and limited size DL group. We will use three wr as a base but will also be incorporate some twin TE looks, 4 wr looks as well as some jumbo three TE looks We also want to incorporate some two RB one TE, two wr looks to attack the lb Up Front /the running game Greenland brings in a solid outside rush with a good duo of edges The DT spot is a dumpster fire however so we plan on being able to bulldoze inside behind our road grading interior and let either of the guards take on that second Tyron has been his usual dependable self when in the lineup We'll have a chip ready to help Havenstein if we feel he needs it. We are going to run a lot inside today but we'll also run some counters off of it to get an advantage over an over pursuant defense. Putting Kamara, out of two RB looks, in motion out should lighten the box or allow for a quick RPO hit to him outside if we can get Ivan pace on him whose an edge rusher . We also have no problem going into heavy formations and running right up the gut with Otton leading the way for Swift. As an added running game wrinkle, we have a couple QB draws out of empty sets ready against a zone heavy defense with retreating LB. We are going to use all types of runs here, zones, power os, dives, and off tackles. We trust the offensive line and Swift and Kamara to get some nice gains for us. We are going to run more out of the pistol than normal to get Herbert out of taking the snap directly under center The passing game This week our offense is going to run through a lot of play action with some roll outs added in to get Herbert on the move. We want to stretch the field with Waddle off of these looks as well as hit Allen on chain moving patterns underneath. Musgrave will be a large part of the passing scheme as well as the RB. Musgrave serves as a dependable security blanket if everything breaks down. We as always will have our zone buster flood plays and rb screens. The two TE looks also allow for opposite seams routes to put a deep middle safety in peril In longer downs we have dependable vets Cooper and Woods who know how to get to the sticks and beat their coverage in either man or zone In four wide we plan to attack Emmanuel Forbes every chance we get as he's been a human turnstile at corner The QB Justin Herbert has been outstanding this year and we are going to lean on him this week to make the right reads. We obviously have a way better line than he has in real life life and when given time this year, his rocket arm has been deadly Defense Greenland loves its quick hitting routes so we are using a bunch of press coverage this week with a cover one robber look behind it. When we zone we are gonna cover two and take out the short and intermediate parts of the field Expect a 70-30 zone to man look this week. If Greenland decides to stick with Akers, that will prob remain. We will play a bit more man with Saquon as it gets us and extra safety in the box in Delpit Up front Autry and Karlaftis get short yardage down work at edge with Tomlinson playing inside. Jefferson comes on for billings in obvious passing downs. Van grinkel serves as depth at edge Back 7 Humphrey gets Diggs while Dean Godwin Bland gets Lamb Bolton has the TE while Foye gets the RB. Hicks gets any TE two coming on for Bland. In the cover one, Cisco is high with Delpit underneath. We occasionally will put Hamilton in for Bland in a big nickel look for his blitzing capabilities without losing much in zone looks. Hamilton three safety nickel will always be zone so we won't overuse it. GREENLAND Offensive Formations: 5 wide (4WR, 1 TE) 50%, 3 WR/1RB/1TE 40%, 5 wide (5 WR) 10% Offensive Tempo: Slow as possible Designed Playcall Distribution: 50% pass, 40% run, 10% screens and quick outs Plan: we want to spread out wide, stacked outside the numbers on both sides of the line of scrimmage. This will allow quick passes, outs and slants coming back to the middle to work great in man coverage. While if in zone we have the numbers on the overloaded side and can find the gaps. Plenty of motion and quick out passes will complement the running game. Slow mesh run style this week with Akers. We also want to run Watson in more end arounds, WR screens, and touch passes First series of the game: we want to establish the pass and the middle of the field Defense Base Formation: 3-4 zone run blitz Run Defense: We feel that this game could ultimately be decided by how well they can run the ball. We will be loading the box heavy on run downs. We want our lineman to push upfield as much as possible to disrupt plays in the backfield and trust our LB core to clean up things at the line of scrimmage. We will be slanting heavily into the strong side and trying to shoot the gaps when we do and get up field to blow plays up in the back field. Pass defense: we want to blanket the field by using a heavy amount of zone blitzing. We will switch into various zone coverages out of our 3-4 base to try and keep the pressure on whoever they run at QB and make him 1) uncomfortable in the pocket and 2) not know who is blitzing or where and what type of zone we are running. We feel that his brain will be more focused on not getting popped that he will miss identify zone schemes and we can get some turnovers. This will also take away the deep ball and big plays from his stars and force things underneath and right into the teeth of our zone Within our zone looks we want to bring a decent amount of blitzes from all over the field and to keep their QB uncomfortable in the pocket Defensive rotation and formations notes: we have DT, edge, LB, and DB depth to rotate in and keep everyone well rested. Walker will be all over the field trying to cause havoc and look to utilize his big play abilities in the backfield. As for formations, even though our base and dominant formation will be 3-4 we do want to sprinkle in some 4-3 and Nickle formations when possible on more clear passing downs Edited October 22, 2023 by MD4L
Scoundrel
Have to go Rome. Not mentioning Barkley in the plan but having him in the lineup speaks to the most recycling of the same plan. Empty set 50% of the game is going to result in a skewed time of possession in Rome’s favor. The plan again talks about Walker’s big play ability but I haven’t seen what that is much this season as he barely won a pass rush rep against a backup T against the Saints while his partner in Josh Allen draws heavier attention… that is concerning. A lot of talent here in Greenland but the tank is clearly on so Rome walks away with this one to remain undefeated.
Whicker
Rome is one of the top teams in BDL for a reason and they continue to show that this week

Ragnarok
I think if I had a more comprehensive idea of how Greenland was going to attack the Rome defense, which is starting to get banged up, I might go them. I also think Greenland should look at personnel tweaks. Flip their OL(swap LT and RT/LG and RG), use a nickel base, reassess front 7, etc. I'm wanting for more info
