One of the more impressive rookie wide receiver seasons all-time for sure. At least in terms of yards.

Not thrilled the Rams hit on another big WR just went Cooper Kupp hit 30.

He Puka karma makes up for Kupp having a short peak due to being older than Larry Fitzgerald lol

Nacua has the raw numbers over LaPorta, but here's an honest question bc I don't watch the Rams - what else does he do? Does he line up in one position only? Does he block?

LaPorta lines up wide, in the slot, inline, at fullback. His blocking is a key part of the Lions' very good run game. He can do everything a TE is called on to do at a very high level, and did so from game one.

Now, no one who votes for ROY is going to care about that. Stroud will get it. I'd put Nacua and LaPorta pretty close together but wouldn't be incensed if Puka was ahead.

does he block?

he beats up off ball lbs.

he is a better version of bobby trees . wr must block in mcvays system.

I cringe when I hear Laporta. He’s insanely good and great no doubt. Will a top 5 TE in a few years. But the guy barely has 758 yards on 70 catches. Puka is second behind reek in yards. Will probably end in top 3 when it’s said and done. He’s 5th in catches.

Like Laporta is having a good year. Puka is freaking balling out. None of those Det guys come close. And I know I sound like a hater.. But what the hell man. One dude has eye gyatt damm numbers and 3 of the guys you mention barely get going. As a collective their beast. I know this. My mans for Det has been killing it! But I think they’re levels to this. And Puka is balling. am I wrong? Yo tell me at I wrong?

Laporta is a TE, not a WR. Why are you acting like 758 yards from a rookie TIGHT END is unimpressive? Lol

He’s literally the only rookie TE in NFL history with 70+ catches, 700+ yards, and 7+ TDs. He will probably end up somewhere around 85 receptions, 900 yards, and 10 TDs which would be #1, #3, and #2 all time for rookies.

And he actually plays TE, he’s not just a TE in name only who rarely lines up online or blocks.

Because great TEs have destroyed the narratives that anything below 1000 yards is a subpar season. But like I said it’s takes them a while to get going.

To be fair, blocking is no longer even expected from TEs at this point, their worth is viewed by their receiving stats. If that's the case then 1k yards still needs to be the measuring stick considering 80% of the top TEs are subpar blockers and are generally asked nothing of in the run game.

Teams have to bring in blocking TE specialists now because of how much the starting position has turned receiving only.

I know you said you don't watch the Rams but I laughed out loud because Puka also lines up wide, in the slot, inline and at FB - and is probably one of the better blocking WRs in the league already - gets jet sweeps and also just broke the rookie record for catches and yards.

Stroud has OROY locked up, but I suspect Puka will be 2 and the gap between him and 3 will be larger than him and Stroud

Yep this is all correct. Puka is no doubt pretty far ahead of LaPorta

Nothing against him, he had an amazing year as well.. but Puka's was that special
