Justin Jefferson: JJets cleared for takeoff for 5 years (New contract! p.10)

QB is by far the most important player on offense. Would it be nice to keep Jefferson and have a young QB throwing him the ball? Absolutely.. But, are we  wining a title in the next 2 years? Probably not. So, if a team makes a great offer for Jefferson ( maybe 2 1st and and a 3rd . Not sure what he would get us ) I would think you have to trade him.

I would then try using our cap space on younger defensive players. We have weapons on offense and building our defense will help our young QB as well. ( that helps any QB 😂

I get it. I have no idea what the going rate would be. 3 1st’s?? Again, I have no idea .. I’ll take the max we could get..

More then Tyreek, a lot more.

Miami gave up a 2022 1st, 2nd, 4th along with a 4th and 6th round picks in 2023.

so, you would think we could get more.

Maybe 2 1st along with 2 2nd round picks and 4th round pick. Seems fair.

It's a start, I wouldn't hang up the phone. I would want to include a starting player at a position of need as well.

As long as that's not where negotiations end.  I  want a team to make a deal for the most dynamic player in the NFL, and I want them to be desperate and not from the NFCN!

We still don’t really know if either side is close on deal structure. The tides could turn if no deal happens and JJ is holding out in August and asks for a trade. Anything is possible, then we might be the desperate one and looking at 2025 picks

I think it really matters the perception of the teams. Like, I'd NEVER trade the Chiefs for less than like 4 1sts because I don't really want slightly earlier 2nd round picks. Someone like the Patriots? 2 1sts sound much more enticing.

while you are obviously correct that none of know anything about the status of the negotiations, why does your mind always go to the worst case scenarios?

Trading one premium player for a bunch of good players isn't always the best strategy.

That could be true. I think it all depends on the position. Do we really need a premium WR? Can Addison carry the load? Same goes for a contract. Do you give 175 million to 1 player? There are so many variables to look at. Having the highest paid WR in the league with about a what, 5 % chance of winning the SB? Don’t know if I take that path. But, we will see what happens..
