Based on my quick look, no, only OROY.

The closest was Orlando Thomas, who finished 2nd in voting to Hugh Douglas in '95.  Alan Page finished in 3rd in 1967 in the first year the DROTY was awarded, both DeWayne Washington (remember that guy?) and Kevin Williams finished 4th in their rookie years and Jeff Siemon finished 5th in his rookie year.  No other Viking defender has ever gotten a vote.

He’ll need to be a difference maker. It won’t necessarily be about stats.

Pretty sure the awards are almost all about stats. That's why DBs hardly ever win the awards and also why OL never win the awards.

CBs have won the award about 25% of the time and 3 times in the last 9 years.  While Edges certainly win it the most, I wouldn't call that "hardly."

Who else never wins the award?  Safeties.  They've won it only twice and that was in a 3 yr span in '88 (Erik McMillan),  and '90 (Mark Carrier).

Dallas Turner would need to lead all rookies in sacks to have a case to win DROY

He doesn't necessarily need to...Maxx Crosby had more sacks (and tackles) than Nick Bosa in 2019, but finished 2nd to him in voting.  Josh Allen had a half-more sack than Crosby and finished 4th.  It's not simply about sacks (or stats), but it certainly helps.  It's stats plus marketing.

Turner is all about marketing. has a business degree and intends to make use of it after football, maybe even during.

Given how the NFL loves to double dip on awards, the biggest help to Turner might be for JJ McCarthy to have a big year and the Vikings need to make the playoffs.

Stats plus marketing! 😉

Bosa had the draft capitol, I think if the media already had you as good and in their 1st round Mocks it seems to favor in close races.

That's where some of the marketing comes in.  Crosby was drafted in the 4th rd.  He probably should have gotten more votes than he did based on where he was taken.
