I mean, there was Terry McLaurin and Curtis Samuel on the roster with him. Its not like teams could just zone in on him and shut him down. He just wasn't very good.

Ya... think we can all agree that the Commanders talent level hasn't been the best since Dotson got to Washington. Sure Terry is great, but outside of that there was really nobody especially at QB and OL.

I am not saying he was completely held back because he was constantly the focus of opposing D's. He just played in a bad offense with a bad coaching staff. He might never become anything, but the pressure is off in Philly. He will be the 5th option at best here.

You'll never see me arguing that Rivera knew how to build a roster. Just saying he wasn't any teams main focus and still struggled. Maybe its just a change of scenery deal. I don't dislike the kid. I hope he gets it together.

......Why not see at least if he gels with your rookie QB man?

They did?  It’s mid-August, not mid-April.

Edit to add: His trade value would have plummeted once teams saw him open the season as WR4 (at best). Strike while the iron is hot. Good trade imo.

Don't think that was a possibility.  Either way the Eagles don't need him to be a stud, they just need competency from their WR3.  Ultimately the compensation for him isn't much and there is a fair bit of upside from the Eagles side.  Time will tell.

It definitely was based on camp reports. He was in a WR2 competition with Dyami Brown (who looked best) and others. Brown was performing better on the outside and the others looked better in the slot.

He's better than Zachheus and Dyami Brown. Luke McCaffery is probably not going to be as good this season as Dotson would have been.

Not based on this offseason (by all reports), at least in this offense.

He’ll probably become the next Antonio Brown in the Eagles offense though.

I'm guessing he's just around 500 yards with like 3-5 touchdowns, which isn't bad given who's in front of him.

Some what surprising, so does that mean that Parris Campbell totally sucks, or that Joseph Ngata, John Ross are not in their plans, more importantly Anias Smith and Johnny Wilson.  I thought for sure one of those two would be their 3rd WR and provide a spark, I guess maybe not.  I guess one could throw in Jacob Harris and Britain Covey, none of those guys fit the bill so they traded for Dotson.

Could be a good move especially if Smith or Brown get hurt.

Campbell was the 8th leading receiver on a bad team last year.  He's a personal Sirianni pet that isnt good.  He will be cut.

John Ross has been out the league 3 years and didn't stand out cut.

Ngata hasn't proven he can get separation against better competition.  Should be back on practice squad.

Wilson will have a role as the #4 in blocking and RZ situation.

Covey is obviously one of the best punt returners in the league and depth in the slot.

Ainias Smith is firmly on the roster bubble.

It's almost like half the board still thinks Snyder is still Owner & Rivera is still HC/GM.

Lol 🤣

Let me help you guys who have no idea, of what we( Commanders )have in our FO & Staff now.

OWNER= Harris group including Magic Johnson. Pure awesomeness....

General Manager= Adam Peters (former San Francisco 49ers ***. GM)

Head Coach= Dan Quinn (Former Atlanta Falcons Superbowl appearance Head Coach & studly Defensive Coordinator for Cowboys last 3 years)

Offensive Coordinator= Kliff Kingsbury (Former Head Coach of Arizona Cardinals & mad scientist of playbook RPO, Zone Read specialist)

We're coming..!!

Get ready...

I had no idea the Commanders made any of these changes. This completely changes my opinion on this trade. What a steal for Washington wow!
