The Vikings cut quarterback Tanner Morgan from their practice squad Friday, allowing him to return to his job as an offensive analyst for the University of Minnesota.

They signed him earlier this week to be an extra arm in practice.

How does that work out, pay wise?  Since he was not on the practice squad roster for even a week, does he get a game-day check?

He's clearly making bank as an offensive analyst for the high powered Gophers offense. ;)

In all seriousness I would guess he either gets a full weeks check or a pro-rated amount of the weekly check.

Was he ever regarded as a serious NFL QB? I can't recall.

Not really. Morgan is a smart player, perfect guy to become a coach, but he doesn’t have NFL talent.

But he’s probably perfect for what the Vikings have brought him in to do. Which is coming in, learning about the opponent for that week, and running the scout team.

How long is Mattison and Hicks out for?

Probably at least through the bye week.

Obviously with Mattison it’s dependent on how quickly he gets through the concussion protocol, but the Vikings are a medical team that likes to play it safe.
