Doesn't a post June 1st trade negate most of his dead money?

Thanks to @TheRealMcCoy I realized that June 1st cut money isn't available until June 1st, so designating him a June 1st cut now does nothing to help the Eagles open cap for Free Agency.

Correct.

What's interesting is that Spotrac says that Curry has 5 million which becomes guaranteed on March 18th.

If their site is accurate, then it has us down for a 7 million cap hit if we do a Post June 1st release which is the 5 million guaranteed + 2 million signing bonus for this year.

There is no way we do that then if that is indeed the case.

We either trade or cut him before March 18th to save taking on that 5 million.

And, I imagine the whole we are trying to rework his contract is just us bluffing to try and get another team to trade something for him.

Is there any site that would know about offsets in his contract?

How much do the Birds save by trading Curry? Good guy, solid player. But definitely could be moved to generate cap space

I assume Celek and Torrey are goners soon

Report(s) are saying that Torrey is generating interest from the ravens for a reunion. Whether that means we trade him or release him.

Also those Post June 1st numbers on Curry are completely incorrect. It saves us 9 Million if we June 1st him.

So wouldn’t help us for FA, but we could use it for some extensions like bumping Graham up a couple mil, or extensions for relatively cheaper guys like Nelson?

Or does it not really matter cause you can go over the Cap in th offseason?

It sucks from a players standpoint but serious business decisions are gonna have to be made given the cap situation. It'd be cool to get a trade or something but if not, at least Vinny got to win a Super Bowl here and can go and get paid again somewhere else.

You forget the rule of "Designated Post June 1st Cut"
