Battlefield V

Played for about an hour last night sniping and I really enjoyed it, although I will never agree with having sniper rifles not be a OHK to the chest and above. Game is still fun, there's lots of room to maneuver and snipe and it feels really good to kill someone. Graphics are amazing, sound is great, I just wish all the player models didn't look identical regardless of team.

Maybe he was the guy in my game late last night blowing up in chat about how terrible the game is and how he's so glad he didn't pre order. Then someone pointed out he was 1-15, and he really was 1-15 lol.

Gotta love those guys.

I was gonna make a post last night with a few other things I didn't like but now it's like a forgot. The colors are a little too bright in some areas and too dark in others. The grenade launcher is a joke right now too. This guy was like under these stairs and I landed both of them up his arse and only 70 damage. Seems like others feel this way too. I'll get used to the ammo system. But it's an odd feeling right now. It will definitely help true camping if it stays like this though.

Yeah it definitely took me a while to get used to the ammo, you have to be way more conservative with how you use it which I like.

Overall the game is just way more tactical than BF1, which I love.

Yeah me too. The one thing I might not like is I find myself spawning on flags to grab that ammo and maybe a bandage instead of squadmates. Then again, my squad mates were useless wandering drones lol. I know it's new to everyone but they seriously had zero directive, turning and running back to flags we just capped. Running all the way from the farthest enemy flag back to our first then like hiding there whole we held 4/5 lol. I seriously thought they might be bots.

As someone who never liked sniping much, I still think there should be SOME sort of chest ohk mechanic. I know everyone hates snipers though and can't be super rational about them. IDK what the answer is anymore.

Definitely agree.  I was playing with just one friend last night so in the games where one of us was a medic and the other was support it was really fun.  We constantly both had more than enough ammo and always had one of the self heal kits.  Any other time where we switch classes it was kind of a nightmare.  Either no ammo or no heals.

Yeah exactly. Which is good in a lot of ways until you play with random blueberries. I said I'll probably have to clan up this time, which is fine. I've never minded it, it's just there's ALWAYS one super BF expert guru (who's actually *** but just likes to yell at everyone) who flips out any time you stand still for 3 seconds and then I end up telling him to eat my *** or whatever because that stuff gets old lol. I just don't know hardly anyone the days who still plays games online, let alone on PC. Everyone got old but me lol. But yeah with even a two man team set up like that is going to help a ton.

This game just isn't that fun to me after the first day.  Maybe the more I play this week, I will change my opinion.  If I was more of a hardcore Battlefield player then I would buy it without a problem.

EDIT:  Just to add.  I played it on console and I don't think the game was really good.  Eventually when I buy it, I will get it on PC.  But on console, I don't think this game is all that great.  It feels choppy, kinda like all BF games feel on console.

I agree there should be, but it simply won't happen now that the've essentially nerfed sniping into oblivion to the point where the only way you can realistically get a kill on someone moving is to get extremely lucky. If they buff snipers at all, every single message board will be filled with 10 year olds complaining about getting sniped every single time they run out in the open - or people complaining about snipers sitting up on hills instead of running into buildings with the rest of the team.

BF players aren't rational, or intelligent, about the role of a sniper. Never have been.

Haha I'm with ya. Like Hill humpers suck. BUT they DIDN'T GO AWAY WHEN YOU NERFED SNIPING. THEY JUST BECAME MORE USELESS. But try to explain that to anyone. There's also this thought process that every game "10 of my teammates are a mile from an objective getting zero kills." As if the other team is 64 PTFO maniacs and only their poor ***** get snipers on their teams. I harp on this with everything, football, politics, gaming. People are so stupid anymore they are incapable of having perspective on anything. I could go on, but you know. Even if there was like this little tiny heart hitbox (good luck making that work and even if it does people will lose their minds on every shot that looks like one on their screen cuz EAz NETCOAD IS DA SUXXXX. Or whatever, I'd love to get into a netcode rant too. Like 95% of it is from abrupt spikes in pings causing jitter that no netcode in the world can comp for from you or the other player. But nope, game is always broken. It's not one of the 5 people on your WiFi watching 4k porn.

Well yeah, two things will happen when you make sniping more useless:

A) Less people will play the sniper role because it's now useless, or

B) Those same people will just became worse and less effective at doing what they like to do, making them ultimately just quit the game.

We've seen that basically everyone fell into category B while EA really went all in on the "PTFO" tagline that they wanted to exploit to get people to stop sniping. People are going to snipe if you give them the ability to, and it's naturally one of the most powerful things in warfare - being able to shoot and kill someone from a range where most soldiers can't shoot back. It's why having snipers on your team is essential to countering snipers on the other team. However, EA was like "What if we just made sniping useless AND made them a giant shiny object that anyone can see from anywhere?!". It's dumb. Either let snipers be snipers or just remove it from the game entirely. I'm sick of this "Well sniping is in the game but it's so useless why even bother?" mentality.

Yeah they definitely went with your last line. And instead of making it useless, just make it harder, there has to be ways. I don't actually have an issue with this. Because I'd be annoyed if it was the other way, but I dinked a HS on one and he return fires nails me in the face. I give him credit for that, but could you make that harder to do under fire but give OHKs chest? It doesn't have to be that exactly. Just instead of making the bullets weak, isn't their other ways.

The thing is, they already did.

They added scope sway, bullet lead, bullet drop, and made it almost impossible to shoot while moving and ADS'ed. They just need to expand the OHK hitbox and that's literally it. Sniping is still hard, but the reward zone is slightly bigger. You're not able to run and quickscope and you can still help your team out.

I'm with you then lol. I honestly played a ton since bc2 and played bf2 and 1942 some. Bf1 is easily the most scoped kills I've ever had in a game, so I'm out of the loop how much it got harder. Just knew it did.

The problem isn't the balance, it's the bitching

I should correct - they didn't really change anything from BF1 to BFV - The biggest changes came from BC2 to BF3. That's when sway, lead, drop, scope glare and the OHK range was all introduced.

In BC2/BC1 there was no scope sway, no scope glare, and sniping was much easier. BC1 had a range of up to 10m I think where you could OHK someone with a sniper rifle in the chest. This made snipers running around like COD really effective, and something I became very good at exploiting with the M95. BC2 nerfed that down a ways, and then BF3 removed it entirely and introduced the sway, scope glare and basically turned sniping useless.

But you can track how they've nerfed sniping all the way back to BF2:MC when sniping was at it's peak:

BF2:MC - Snipers were a OHK anywhere on the body and you had a laser designator which all you had to do was hold down the trigger and wait for the lock and that thing went boom seconds later. You also had a GPS thing with 3 charges where you press the button and people appear on radar.

BC1 - They nerfed the laser designator to be a mortar strike instead that only killed the thing if it was in the blast radius long enough. They also introduced the OHK range of 10m instead of all ranges. OHK also only applied to head/chest and only chest up to 10m.

BC2 - Took away the mortar strike and made the range shorter on the OHK.

BF3 - Introduced scope sway, bullet lead/drop and scope glare, but also gave the recon class C4.

BF4 - Removed the C4 from recon class, making them not able to kill vehicles by themselves.

Love the summary. Thanks! Though I do think bc2 still had the mortar strike for recon.. Pretty confident. But that's besides the point lol
