Raves Posted August 3, 2018 Share Posted August 3, 2018 So he knew, but outside of his statement to the media, he still hasn't legally or contractually done anything wrong, especially if he reported it up the chain of command as it's reported. Then why has the university not just said that? Why has it let this fester for two plus days when I assume the Title IX department, the AD, and any other person he or Shelly could have reported this too are all either still there or documented this? If he said anything then OSU issues a statement Wednesday night "Urban Meyer followed protocol and reported these things to the proper channels, we have no reason to suspend or punish him or believe that he has done anything wrong". Why would he still lie here, this would guarantee his firing, but the PR hit of the situation and his comments to media needed to have an immediate response as well, which is putting him on Administration Leave until was verified. I think the initial statement by Urban to the media and then the release of the texts etc by McMurphy is where things were looking so bad so fast that they needed to take the time and make sure every base was covered, among other things. Also didn't they almost immediately put him on Admin Leave after the McMurphy texts/story was released and the media backlash? It's been what 2 days since that they've been getting their ducks in the row by getting an investigatory arm together to show they are taking the situation serious due to the PR and they aren't going to just go "Oh we found this report he made, so he did know and report it, he just acted poorly in response to the media" which might be something they also need to look at in regards to his contract. Instead it's now a national news story. The only thing that could be a factor in the delay of this is the whole situation between Zach and Courtney is an open case. There was probably a TON of action between lawyers and checking to make sure that appropriate action was taken, things were not covered up, or hell even anyone else involved. Then on a SEPARATE note, everyone had to make sure they were covering their ***** from Urban's side, OSU, and everyone else involved from a professional level. It seems that Urban created a lot of his own damage here that could have been avoided with a statement along the lines of, "everything we knew was appropriately reported and it is an on-going matter between Zach, Courtney, and there lawyers. Only thing I can think of, With title9 Those reports could all be made classified and might not be easily accessible.
