The Patriots somehow managed to convince people that because they were the first team to spam people with freebee underneath slot route crap, that makes Welker himself some kind of special player. The fact is, every receiver who ever played played plenty of snaps in the slot. Jerry Rice played in the slot. Randy Moss played in the slot. Why the hell would anyone want WELKER there? Like actual great receivers couldn't run a drag route and get open against linebackers, or catch a bubble screen and jog behind a convoy of blockers for 7 yards before heading out of bounds? Yeesh.
