For Carr passing 29 of 32, 30 of 32 without the Smith drop. Which is one of the most efficient passing games by a QB ever.

They've never been a run game unit. They're a pass blocking group. And considering the modern game, and Carr, it's the right idea. It just has to be utilized properly, which means not trying to run the game out at the end. Pass/run the game out, just like you played it for the other 3 quarters.

There's no such thing as a run game unit or a pass blocking group. You have to be great at both to be considered a great player. We have more money tied up in our interior OL than any other team in the league and cannot run the ball. We were 6th in the league in rushing yards with Latavius Murray at RB in 2016.

Perhaps our interior 3 are merely very good players rather than great. No HOFers there. They're average run blockers and excellent pass blockers. And it also needs to be considered that Lynch at 33 just isn't that great of a runner. We have what should easily be considered a poor RB unit. A bottom of the league unit there, despite the hype.

You don't invest $30M into your interior OL to suck at running the ball. They're the highest paid group in the league and Kolton Miller is outplaying all three of them. Really have to wonder about Reggie's decision to pay Gabe Jackson before Khalil Mack considering his poor play this year.

They have to be the biggest disappointment through 2 games. 3rd/4th and short should be a layup for this group and we have failed more often than we have succeeded in those situations. Given the hype of that group and lead blocker Keith Smith and collectively they have cost us at least one game. And all 4 of those guys are amongst the highest paid at their positions.

Miller is pretty bad in the run game actually

Yeah lets not start jocking on Miller too much. It's two games in and he has his flaws. The interior has "Under performed" but in the last two games they had to play against a good and great interior. There isn't any DT duo better than Donald and Suh, it was going to be tough sledding against them. Playing the Broncos in the Mile high is going to be a disadvantage to anyone especially in 90 degree weather. Also for the entire time that Gabe, KO and Hudson have been in oakland they've been in a Power blocking scheme. ZBS is pretty different and there might be a little of a learning curve for them. Really I'm not concerned about the interior.

Anyone have Millers PFF grade in the run game?

Left Tackle: Kolton Miller, 59.8
Left Guard: Kelechi Osemele, 61.1
Center: Rodney Hudson, 70.7
Right Guard: Gabe Jackson, 63.1
Right Tackle: Donald Penn, 63.7

The much-maligned selection of left tackle Kolton Miller is already turning out better than most expected. He’s had his struggles as a run blocker, where he has a 51.8 grade through two weeks, but he’s only yielded three hurries all season long while not allowing a single sack or hit. They aren’t exactly leaving him alone on an island all game long, but the results are encouraging nonetheless

Cooper toasted Roby with his jab step off the line. I want to see him get 10 targets a game every single goddamn game. Give him screens. Hitches. Out routes. Deep and shallow crosses. Go routes. Double moves. All of it.

He's taken the next step guys. He's hands catching with confidence too.

Also cool it on Lynch. He did well with the blocking we gave him. He would have been at 5 YPC if it wasn't for that idiotic Roberts hold. Our interior OL needs to run block better. Jackson and Osemele didnt have the best games against Peko.

I was merely saying that Miller isn't perfect yet, relax. As he gets older and his body matures, he'll have more oomph in his run blocking. He leans into it a lot because he is lacking in power. Eventually, he won't need to. I do think our IOL needs to step up a bit but I'll cut them some slack going against Suh/Donald then the Broncos DL at Mile High.

True but it won't get easier against miami with their edge.
