I had no idea that was the phrase. Always thought it was lead.

Both work, but I think technically for newspaper lingo, "lede" it the proper spelling.

lede

n.

by 1965, alternative spelling of lead (n.2) in the newspaper journalism sense (see lead (v.)), to distinguishthis sense from other possible meanings of the written word, perhaps especially the molten lead (n.1) used in typesetting machines.

Doesn't he qualify more as an ape and not a monkey?  I can't be having anything in the house I can't take down with a well-placed blow dart tranquilizer.

If he doesn't have a tail
He's not a monkey
Even if he has a monkey
Kind of shape

If he doesn't have a tail
He's not a monkey
If he doesn't have a tail
He's an ape.

#earworm for all the parents out there

Oooga booga it's a monkey ...

It is lead. As in a lead pipe. That's gonna get buried in the back of your skull if you keep this up.

As with everything else (including your selection of Beef Chuck over Sausage links), you are wrong.
