He did so w/ no WR catching over 65 passes & no RB avg over 4.3 YPC. Worth it. What week did that happen?
incognito_man
Last year this is a $97 million guaranteed. Two years ago this an $88 million guaranteed (for one more year than Kirk Cousins...) Next year this will be $118 million guaranteed. In two years it will be $130 million guaranteed. The whole while it will represent the same % of the cap as ever. And the whole while people will continue to feign outrage at the gross value of a new contract and question "How EVER will a team survive this?!?!" Sigh

He posted those numbers in a heavily inflated statistical year. 102.2 was 7th in the league for rating. That's worse ranking wise than, for example, Peyton's year 3. Carson Palmer's year 3. Matthew Stafford's year 3. Amongst, I'm sure, others. And all of those players did so while playing a full, and winning, season. You'll find a lot of QBs outdoing what those in the past did last year, considering the average passer rating league wide was 93. Setting the minimum number of attempts at 400 is also just freaking hilarious. Because Wentz at 401 had a worse passer rating in his third year than Chad Pennington did on 399 attempts in his.

Yeah and Pennington, who had enough attempts to qualify, led the league in passer rating, completion percentage and TD percentage in his third year. I like the number 405 as a qualifier though so neither of them are eligible because of whatever.

Sigh Literally only morons will say or think this is a bad contract or "they paid the wrong QB". Is he injury prone? It appears so. But that doesn't mean you don't have to pay your franchise QB. "Pushing" top 5 Is there a stat split for Dakota's production with and without Ezekiel in the lineup? Something tells me Dakota's success is strongly tied to his ability to rely on an elite playmaker in the backfield. Wentz has never had a RB in the top 15 let alone top 3. He's a numbers/analytics guy and he's more than capable of selectively sorting the numbers to support his acerbic commentary as needed He's been ripping on Chip Kelly while lauding Howie/Doug lately, so that fits. I still think paying Wentz was the right move, Carson is worth it
