BrettFavre004
Saw we are interested in JA Happ from the Yankees, $17 million for 2020. Want to add someone to the starting lineup without committing 60-80 million, so this makes some sense to me. thoughts?

beekay414
Didi got a 1 year deal from Philly. I really don't know wtf we're doing this off-season. The cost cutting stuff could be true. If it is, Mark Attanasio can eat my ***.
beekay414
I mean, they are already starting to put out bull**** like "the Brewers operated in the red in 2019" which we all know is flat out not true. If the cost cutting stuff is true, Attanasio flat out lied about willingness to spend money to compete.

umphrey
Hard to imagine how we fill out a roster at this point. Gotta salvage the offseason with a Hader trade.

Since we do the counter-culture offseason and zig when everyone zags, it'd make sense to rebuild and let other teams go to town with FAs. Sign a pillow contract guy or two. umphrey
Implying Donaldson is out of the question for us? Was hoping we could do a short deal above $20M AAV
Packerraymond
Would like to trade Hader for some high level (and ranking) infield and catching prospects. Have the infield squared away for years on team controlled deals. Trade for Myers as has been advocated here. If anyone wants to give you something useful for Braun or Cain, take it. Buy some "catch lightning in a bottle" pitching either by trade or FA and give Burnes and Peralta another shot at starting. Hopefully the young players play well in 2020 and we buy pitching next off-season. Oh and offer Yelich whatever it takes too.

Not all too familiar with the Brewers.....but they have been a team on the cusp recently. You talking about a retrenching / restocking here or a semi-rebuild? Free agency has done a complete 180 from previous years, which probably has a lot to do with why we did a 180 in our approach. 51 minutes ago, Packerraymond said: Would like to trade Hader for some high level (and ranking) infield and catching prospects. If we're going to trade Hader, you may as well trade Knebel at the deadline too if he comes back like his old self. The pillow contract guy I would have wanted the most got signed by the Giants - Gausman for 1 year/$9MM.

You talking about a retrenching / restocking here or a semi-rebuild? If the market was the same as last year, we could've re-tooled, but guys are taking lucrative long term deals and we're not going to be able to give something like that out to more than say 1 player, and we're a lot more than that away. What we should've done is sold Moose and Grandal last year at the deadline for pitching prospects and we would already be further along. Instead we do what we always do in Milwaukee, fight for a low playoff seed and to be bounced. The 2018 team I get going for it, that team had championship stuff. Last year's team, not even close. Get Yelich signed long term and get pieces around him to contend for 2021+.
