Bites at the apple baby

The thing that no one will talk about is that the real difference in this series was the Burnes trade. Everyone just accepts that the ownership group with less money than almost any ownership in major US pro sports tells us that they couldn’t afford to keep a homegrown ace with a sub 3 ERA in 5 of the last 6 years.

And that’s perfectly acceptable apparently. That because they don’t have enough free cash to pay him, we can roll with a soft hitting, defensive specialist IF and a long reliever instead.

Just so tired of the ultra rich trying to sell franchises as passion projects instead of what they really are, obvious long term investments.

Hope you guys get to have the joy I got when Fred Wilpon was essentially forced at gunpoint to sell to the richest guy in the sport. Trust me, I know all too well how brutal and grueling it is knowing that you have no hope barring a fluke miracle run because the guy running everything refuses to put money into it.

Just sucks, it ruins the sport.

That was brutal, but like the baby Packers last year, this was never the year.

Next year the starters will hopefully be Peralta, Woody, Myers, Civale, Miso and we'll have Black up as well. Hopefully a healthy Yeli to DH only.

As has already been said, there needs to be some cash spent on this team, but the core is there. Maybe another Grienke/CC trade becomes an option.

Whatever we do, Joey Ortiz cannot be relied on as an everyday batter. He's great in the field but you can't hit like he does and provide no power or be so simply attacked up in the zone and make no adjustments whatsoever. He's insanely limited as a hitter.

So, essentially, we need a 3B AND a SS next year.

Baseball needs a cap and floor. These payroll differences are killing the sport. $200 Million payroll differences between playoff teams is comical. $200 Million cap, $150 Million floor. Make these owners spend money league wide.
