titans0021
Corbin Burnes - 6.1 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 9 K on 82 pitches. How soon could we see him in the rotation?

beekay414
https://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/updated-2018-mlb-draft-rankings/ Based on these rankings, my top 5 for guys in our range would be... 1.) Jeremy Eierman | 3B/SS | Missouri State2.) Logan Gilbert | RHP | Stetson3.) Greyson Jenista | OF | Wichita State4.) Jackson Kowar | RHP | Florida5.) Jonathan India | 3B | Florida Pretty much want to go the safe route here.

How soon could we see him in the rotation? Who knows, right? It's a callup, predicting them is damn near impossible. They Brewers might be concerned about his pitch counts - he hasn't gone 100 yet this year and only had 145 IP last year. That's a ton for a minor leaguer, but the realistic max they should be shooting for is somewhere around 180 IP this year. The Brewers definitely think they have a chance at the playoffs this year, so now that he's back to dominating in AAA, they might start playing around with his innings a little bit, and that could mean bringing him up into the bullpen. If I was the GM, I'd be getting both him and Woodruff up. We've got 2 top 100 pitching prospects who are MLB ready and a back end of the rotation that's really soft. Let's see what the kids can do. 9 hours ago, bkobow05 said: Him, Woodruff and Peralta replace Chacin, Suter and Guerra. Guerra has been good in his 2 starts so he's earned a little bit of a leash from me, and Peralta could probably use more time in AAA to work on hitting his spots more consistently. We also gave Chacin a 2 year deal, so I don't think we give up on him after 4 bad starts, even though he looks really, really bad. I'd keep Anderson, Davies, Guerra, and Chacin in the rotation, but the latter 2 are on a short leash. Bring up Woodruff now, bump Suter to the bullpen as the long man, DFA Drake (!!!). Bring up Burnes to come out of the bullpen in a multi-inning role, similar to Josh Hader's at the start of the year where he'd get the 5th/6th/7th in close games twice a week, then DFA Jennings. Hader could stay in his multi-inning role, but take the 8th and 9th when we've got a lead. Barnes could be the closer. If either Guerra or Chacin have a few more bad starts, move Burnes into the rotation. Guerra would be optioned to AAA (call up Peralta to the Burnes role in the bullpen). Chacin might have some value as a righty specialist out in the bullpen, especially if that helps him get his velocity back.

I think we go and get a guy we like who is either a college bat (or Xavier Edwards, assuming he's signable, which he might not be) at 21, then go overslot at 61. Seems to be how we've played the draft historically. I'd be just fine with Eierman. Positional versatility, good performance, good exit velocity...pretty much checks all the boxes for what we want. Really wish we would have signed India out of HS...

Maybe we saw something Tampa didn't? And yeah, the pro team is only at the tip of the iceberg with how good they can be. Tons of talent coming up. David Stearns be like...
