MWil23
Well guys, it's finally happened. I taught my annual 9/11 lesson and not a single kid, senior on down, was alive for 9/11. CRAZY/hard to believe!

ramssuperbowl99
We will never forget. Except for @LETSGOBROWNIES, @MWil23, and @ET80, who are too old to remember pretty much anything these days.

Which seems on par for this website, so good job dudes. I actually recall the first SNL after 9/11. SNL was right down the road from ground zero, so a lot of the people working there (whether it be on the show or behind the scenes) so it was an emotional effort to go on with the show. NYC Mayor Rudy Giuliani opened the show with a pretty rousing thank you to those who went above and beyond, SNL Executive Producer Lorne Michaels came out, and Giuliani said "We need to show everyone that NY is still in business...SNL is an institution of NY, and it's important to everyone!" Then... Came a moment that actually got me to laugh, for the first time since the events of 9/11: Lorne: Well, can we be funny? (Long pause) Giuliani: ...Why start now? I laughed. A lot of people probably did at that moment. It was scripted, but it was a light-hearted reminder that NY - and, by extension, all of us - we're still in business. Here's the opening for your viewing pleasure: https://www.nbc.com/saturday-night-live/video/911-tribute-with-mayor-giuliani/n11612 That's @ramssuperbowl99 and I right now. We wonder if we can make you laugh in this memorial thread. But, why would we start making you laugh now?

I just hate the way this day is commemorated. It makes it seem like Americans live in some kind of fantasy world where an event like this is a random act of senseless violence, devoid of precedent or historical context. We need to grow up.
