On the other, who would replace him and what does it matter? Larry and Cooley thought strongly about making Tress Way the game MVP, but went with Quinton Dunbar because making the punter the MVP "would be disrespectful." No, not acknowledging the only Pro Bowl nod they will have was the best player is disrespectful.

Lots of guys (Andy Dalton is always the prime example I think of) are ready to come in and play competently early on. They have tons of experience and have a headstart on being able to keep up mentally at this level. Guys like Minshew and Finley from last draft class sorta fit this mold, and so does Daniel Jones to some degree (though he’s got more physical talent than the rest of those guys). But that doesn’t make those guys the best long-term option. They don’t have much upside. Picking a QB is not about the immediate return — it’s about the payoff you receive over the next 10-15 years. The investment in Haskins was one in his long-term projection. His physical tools that give him the potential to be great if/when he learns how to play QB at this level. The same can’t be said for most of the guys who may have been ready to play earlier, they have a physical ceiling that Haskins doesn’t. Unfortunately, impatience has placed him on the field well before that time came, so we’ll see if he can overcome being thrown in there. Because I don’t think project QBs with 14 college starts are worth first round picks. It’s too high of a risk, there has to be a discount for that lack of experience. There was, he didn’t go 1st in the NFL draft despite him having the best arm and most natural talent, he was instead the 3rd QB taken and fell 14 spots. lavar703
And we’re paying Davis like $7M to do that. Sigh.

Most Fans here don't understand this because they dont know what it's like to win consistently or build a winning franchise. Andy Reid traded up for Mahomes thinking about the future. Reid also sat Mahomes his rookie year except week 17 thinking about the future. Here Haskins is thrown in to "Win Now" around nothing but incompetence and dysfunction! So all those who wanted him to start don't say **** about his 3 INTs, footwork, over throws, ect. You got what you asked for!
