Wasted a year of development at quarterback, wasted new acquisitions, and a coach that simply did not pan out. I’m not even sure that we stayed put as far as development this year. I feel like we are further behind it then we ended last season with regression offensively and bad habits possibly formed at QB. What a total loss. Meanwhile, Baltimore hit big-time on their second year quarterback. And Cincinnati is about to snag Burrow. Personally, I think he is closer to Kirk Cousins than Tom Brady. With that said though, he will be a joy for some quarterback coach to work with and seems to at least have what it takes to want to be successful in this league. We came into the season with the belief that we were moving forward and there was a real advantage in the AFC North that could be on a decline. I don’t feel that way at all right now. I shockingly feel okay with the team right now. We have guys who showed their not just a flash in the pan and we can actually grow around them. Even guys like Denzel and Greedy got better down the stretch. Now if we suck next year, then yeah, I give up forever.
DawgX
Just get the coaching situation sorted out, address the OL and we'll be good to go.

I don’t want to say we’ve been “lit up”, but guys like Brandon Allen, Duck whatever the hell his name is, etc have had far more success than they should. Russell Wilson and the 9ers in general look unfazed by our defense. Kenyon Drake is sending them Christmas cards. As far as Greedy, he’s played 10 games and hasn’t picked off a pass and managed to break up 2 passes. Ward has one pick. I get that those aren’t the only indicators of good play, but they’ve been largely non factors, which is disappointing as hell for a 4th overall pick and a second rounder. IMO Myles, Larry, Schobert and Mack are the only guys on defense who showed anything consistently all season.

Like I've said a few times before, it's kind of crazy to know that the defense we've seen the past few weeks is the same one that played so well early in the season against teams like the Rams and Ravens when we were without several starters. I know we've been without Garrett and Vernon, but it's not an excuse for our defense to be as bad as it's been the past few weeks. And a couple of those games were against bad offenses like Pittsburgh and Cincinnati. At first I was pretty happy with the job Wilks' has done, but I've soured on him lately. I'm not totally against him coming back next year, but I definitely won't be upset if he's gone either. As for Greedy, I think he's been solid. Certainly nothing amazing, but I think he's played well enough to make me think he could become a legit starter for us. Ward was great as a rookie and had a bit of a down year this year (although I wouldn't say he's been terrible or anything this year), so he's another player who needs to bounce back next year. Hopefully he can stay healthy.

Instead of dialing up everything under the sun and making the QB read quickly and make throws, he lets him play pitch and catch against zone. It’s infuriating how we’ve let bad QB’s be successful. 5 minutes ago, DawgX said: As for Greedy, I think he's been solid. I guess for that type of investment I expected more turnovers and game changing plays. They had one between the two of them all season.

But his loss still hurts us (obviously no where near as much as the loss of Garrett) since we've been forced to give significant playing time to dudes who weren't even on the team at the start of the season. A silver lining of Vernon being out is that Chad Thomas has received more playing time and has looked very solid. Likely won't ever be a great pass rusher by any means, but he seems like he could be a solid overall starter. I think we need to go out and find a pass rush specialist though, or find a DC who's better at creating pressure. Even when Myles was playing, if he wasn't able to get after the QB, then the QB usually had all day to throw. Now we've just seen that amplified now that Myles isn't playing. You can't be a successful defense when you only have one guy who can consistently get after the QB.

Oh for sure. I’m just saying we haven’t got much in return for 15 million. 2 minutes ago, DawgX said: A silver lining of Vernon being out is that Chad Thomas has received more playing time and has looked very solid. Yeah I think we’ve seen enough that we can move on from Vernon and use that money elsewhere. 2 minutes ago, DawgX said: I think we need to go out and find a pass rush specialist though, or find a DC who's better at creating pressure. They’re free agents 😂

We will go no huddle and play with pace in an attempt for Freddie to make people fall in He Gets Us again. Freddie in his Monday presser likely internalized the criticism about pace. We will look explosive as an offense and Baker will play his best game. Nick Chubb will run wild in an effort to get him the rushing title. As a result, our entire passing game will open up and Freddie will fall into success. It will all be illusion. And so many of you poor bastards will fall for it. Bengals are the worst team in the league. Nigh. Dude no one is or will be deceived.
