Depended on the maintenance of the stadium. When astroturf became all the rage, you didn't see the diamond. Some stadiums like Oakland or San Francisco that strictly used grass, you saw the diamond at times.

Nice short story on how former 49ers FB Earl Cooper found out he was drafted 13th overall in 1980. As crazy as it seems now, I could see Kyle doing something nutty like that. Anyway, although Cooper didn't play that long for the 49ers, he did a great job in Walsh's offense helping the 49ers get the first two rings. Loved how he wore #49. Didn't know during his rookie season he was second in the NFL in receptions with 83 after Kellen Winslow's league-leading 89.
