Tennessee nearly hired the current HC of Rutgers like 2 years ago. There's a mountain of a difference between Michigan and Tennessee.

Not in production. That's what I'm referring to. Better recruits, arguably weaker conference, similar records.

It's not actually better recruits. Schools like Tennessee and Nebraska get overranked by services because they take 25-30 guys every year and process a bunch of the guys to make up for it.

You're better off taking 20, being ranked lower, and developing guys.

Michigan lost to Wisconsin, Penn State, Ohio State and Alabama. Tennessee lost to Georgia STATE, BYU, Florida, Georgia and Alabama. Michigan's OOC schedule was Middle Tennessee, Army and Notre Dame. Tennessee's was UAB, Georgia Tech, Chattanooga and Georgia State. Michigan beat Iowa and Notre Dame, Tennessee beat nobody of note.

No, they aren't even remotely similar.

Tennessee (the state) does have better recruits, but it's also a hotbed area.  Even Navy pulls recruits from the state- we have 10 players on our roster from Tennessee, and that's where we found Keenan Reynolds.   Tennessee with their history should have a stranglehold on some of that talent, but there is quite a bit of it available, and part of that is because of their recent results on the field.

Because we had a god awful incompetent athletic director and him almost hiring Schiano is a large part of why he got fired.

That and the brilliant combo of Dooley and Butch.

At least Pruitt is showing promise in regards to developing players, which we haven't had in a decade.

Yeah, but they may only be one game behind Michigan after they get to play the 5th best team in the Big Ten East, so which program is even better???
