And for all the cautionary examples of RBs not living up to their contacts... There are plenty of similar examples for qbs: Brock Osweiler, Blake Bortles, Joe Flacco, Mike Glennon, Matt Flyn, Case Keenum, Jared Goff, Nick Foles, etc...

The argument here is that almost no RB lives up to their contract. What RBs were made among the highest paid at their position that the consensus view is that it was a good decision to pay them?

How often does a team let a star RB go and that team looked stupid?

There are bad contracts given out at every position. Especial free agents who are being brought to a new environment.

Actually it was the 2004 season we were in cap hell, we cut everyone from Mason, Rolle, Dyson, Carter, Kearse, Fred Miller, Lance Shulers, Justin McCariens, Eddie George, we sucked so bad in 04 that we drafted PacMan in 05 with 6th pick 😩 & that’s the same draft Aaron Rodgers came out

Yeah... George was replaced after the 03 season... Mason in 04 (Rolle too, but that move made sense at the time)...and McNair after 05...that to me was the move that defined our cap purge.

And/or have a career season just prior to getting a big contract...

How many RBs who is their team's identity and in their prime allowed to leave? Like it or not, we've built a team that is bucking the trend and is centered on a RB. Letting him go is a complete change of direction... And we don't currently have a team set up for that.

These arguments are obviously a broken record... Everyone believes what they do... Different angles to their argument.

All indications are that the FO and coaching staff wants the continuity on offense to continue while they keep building up the defense.

The Henry/Tannehill argument will be settled once the team starts making their moves.

This a pretty good article about Art's offense, and Henry and Tannehill's fit in it and it's success. Pretty good read ... I dont know if we've ever discussed Smith's offense and what system or philosophy is based on.

https://www.si.com/nfl/2020/01/17/titans-offense-origins-wide-zone-run-game-derrick-henry-arthur-smith

Also a recent article revisiting the now infamous George/Henry call.

Since that call Henry has played 27 total games, gaining 2772 yards on 517 carries 29 tds, 42 rec, 277 yards, 2 tds... That's a stretch of 27 games where he's averaging over 100 rushing yards per game, over a td per game, and 5.4 ypc... And the Titans have a 17-10 record during that stretch (not including the Saints game he missed).

Yep.

My last thought about it.... If you don't sign Henry might as well not sign Tanny. No need to try to continue what we did last season. Breaking it up.

Henry isn't just another RB. There isn't anyone like him, physically.

But we shall see

Not resigning Tannehill because we don't resign Henry?

It's like some of you think we can never find a talented RB again. Like we don't run a similar scheme to the 49ers who do the same thing on the ground with no-names and retreads at RBs.

I know you're going to bring up Arthur Smith because he's not Shannahan, because as rage mentioned we've been down this road 1000 times, but Henry only had 2 100 yard games without Arthur Smith last season and 4 in his career, 5 if you count post-season. He had 6 100 yard games this season, 8 if you count the post-season.

So Smith's obviously pretty good at what he's doing and it's clearly not like Henry is the only thing making him look good.

If they decide to move on from Henry, we will find another talented RB (or two) that will fill his role just fine.

Bro what IS EVERYONE TALKING ABOUT LMAO. Henry is the best player we've had in a long long time. Theres some running backs that are just different. and Tanny was great and he had his moments but yo Im telling you rn he his not taking us to the super bowl unless this defense improves GREATLY. Which could be a thing. Big Jeff and Landry just need ONE more guy and our pass rush is insane.

All I know is there are more LEGIT QBs out there on FA than RBs same with the draft so who we replacing Henry with? Nah hes not going anywhere this is crazy.

We definitely won’t find another RB to do what Henry did the last half of this season.

We also probably won’t get that from Henry himself either.

He won't duplicate it and we shouldn't expect him to. It's not realistic.
