That's false, or at best oversimplistic. Sorry, but it is. If you don't think there are strings - of the "sorry, don't care if you're a fan of the team or not, this guy isn't signing for you" variety - you're kidding yourself. Brees, for instance, isn't going anywhere else. He'll either re-up with New Orleans or he'll retire. There's a less than 1% chance that anything different from that happens. Brady almost assuredly isn't going to a team that doesn't have a clearly open Super Bowl window, and beyond that it's highly unlikely he goes anywhere that doesn't offer him at minimum an above-average OL and receiving options. Even though I think he could actually succeed (if the OL were finally strengthened again), I can't see them going after an Andy Dalton, for instance. Brady is a pipedream that honestly seems to be a case of his agent happy to let the overzealous LA and Boston media markets work up a tizzy that gets Tom an utterly ridiculous deal if he doesn't (or even if he does) return to the Pats. The Chargers aren't going to proactively or voluntarily tank for anyone, but they may end up like the Bengals this year where their management/ownership proves themselves so out of their depth and inept that they manage to outsuck the rest of the field by accident.
