It's not Sproles, but Terry Metcalf of the 1975 Cardinals. Playing in a 14 game regular season, Metcalf averaged roughly 176 yards per game. Per game Metcalf would have been the leader, but his total came to 2,462 due to those 2 less games. Sproles simply holds to total record with 2,696, but per game you're absolutely right. He is involved with his kids and coaching their teams. So I bet once he gets back to doing that he won't second guess his decision to walk away.
