WindyCity
The OL is razor thin. I haven’t seen all the releases yet, but a veteran OT would make some sense.

dll2000
McMannis and DHC always make the team. Bears seem to prefer keeping good special teams players over trying to develop talent. Tolliver must have looked bad. Burns, Roberson, Johnson and Tolliver were supposed to all have a legit shot at CB2. Johnson is only one even on team. Horstead was a small surprise as well. I’ll be super disappointed if he isn’t on practice squad at least. Practice squad will be interesting. I have to think with so few practices a lot of teams made mistakes. Epyon
Kerrith Whyte was cut by the Steelers... I'd still probably take him over Ryan Nall and get him back in Chicago.

soulman
We can carry 16 players on the PS with 6 of those have previous NFL experience so it's possible some of the cuts were primarily to get a guy through waivers and onto the PS where they'll be able to move guys back and forth based on need. The other rationale is releasing vested vets so their contracts aren't guaranteed for the entire season then bringing them back after game one.
soulman
The Bears kept six of their seven 2020 draft picks in Kmet, Johnson, Trevis Gipson, Vildor, Mooney and Hambright. The only exception was Simmons. No undrafted rookies made the final roster. Of the 53 players, 49 have been acquired since Ryan Pace became Bears general manager in 2015. The exceptions are Fuller, Leno, McManis and punter Pat O'Donnell. Here's a breakdown of the 53-man roster as it stands now (in alphabetical order): Quarterbacks (2): Nick Foles, Mitchell Trubisky. Running backs (4): Tarik Cohen, David Montgomery, Ryan Nall, Cordarrelle Patterson. Receivers (6): Ted Ginn Jr., Anthony Miller, Darnell Mooney, Riley Ridley, Allen Robinson II, Javon Wims. Tight ends (5): Jimmy Graham, Demetrius Harris, J.P. Holtz, Cole Kmet, Eric Saubert. Offensive linemen (9): Alex Bars, Rashaad Coward, James Daniels, Arlington Hambright, Germain Ifedi, Charles Leno Jr., Bobby Massie, Jason Spriggs, Cody Whitehair. Defensive linemen (5): Roy Robertson-Harris, Akiem Hicks, John Jenkins, Bilal Nichols, Brent Urban. Inside linebackers (4): Joel Iyiegbuniwe, Roquan Smith, Danny Trevathan, Josh Woods. Outside linebackers (5): Trevis Gipson, Khalil Mack, Barkevious Mingo, Robert Quinn, James Vaughters. Cornerbacks (5): Kyle Fuller, Jaylon Johnson, Duke Shelley, Buster Skrine, Kindle Vildor. Safeties (5): Deon Bush, DeAndre Houston-Carson, Tashaun Gipson, Eddie Jackson, Sherrick McManis. Specialists (3): Pat O'Donnell, Eddy Piñeiro, Patrick Scales. WindyCity
The Bears are signing former Saints DE/DT Mario Edwards. Former 2nd round pick of the Raiders who had some nice moments early in his career and then dealt with injuries.

If true, it sounds like Tolliver was not a talent based decision.
