What movie are you watching?

Saw NOPE yesterday. Outside of the cinematography and sound, the movie is a pretty disappointing mess. It was like US in a lot of waysin that it was a beautiful looking film but the story and characters were kinda lame. I enjoyed Get Out, but Peele is pretty overrated as a Horror director.

I did laugh a bit during Sleeping with Other People but that's because I'm a Jason Sudeikis stan. We're the Millers was quality but, for me, it has no rewatch value and that kills it.

Wedding Crashers is the best comedy of the 2000s in my eyes.

I didn't laugh much at sleeping with other people, but I did just enjoy the movie

The Outfit is my favorite movie of the year so far.

Mostly because it’s the only movie released this year that I’ve actually enjoyed.

Film is dying.

Blame streaming. Pretty sure Matt Damon explained it a while back saying that risks aren't being taken because they can't double back on DVD sales like the past. It's either blockbuster or low budget. There's no in-between anymore.

Oh, it’s not all streaming. Granted, streaming has a lot to do with it, but it’s all IP and extravaganza now.

Streaming, however, is the way of the future. It presents opportunity in a lot of ways, and we’re seeing the most originality coming from streaming platforms that make their own content.

It’s a loT of things though. I blame TikTok a lot more than I blame streaming. TikTok and other societal things that are dumbing society down.

I have been going back to a lot of the great films of the past lately in lieu of trying new movies and the greats take attention. Even The Outfit takes attention. You watch an MCU movie and you can sit and watch TikTok while watching the movie and you won’t miss out on much. You watch Casino or The Godfather or any of Scorsese/FFC/vintage Spielberg or any of the great films (I’m talking great, not good), and you are missing valuable, film-shaping information.

There are so many things leading to film’s demise right now that it might take ten years of radical sociological change to fix it.

And this is a completely politics free post. It is possible for a “woke” movie to be great or a far right movie to be great. Politics have nothing to do with the demise of film right now. It’s just nobody is making great films because the audience isn’t there for it.

Yeah, you need to get out more. None of this makes any sense lol. Blaming TikTok is a "get off my lawn" level type of nonsense.

Film is dying because there's no money in the old structure. That's really all there is to it and they haven't been able to adapt and apparently, neither have you.
