The defensive play call was predicated on getting pressure, and Dallas not being able to extend the play. Gilbert was able to extend the play, Lamb ad-libbed, and voila. It's the reason wheel routes are such a great look against Cover-3, the flat defender has to carry the wheel route (essentially what Lamb ran) while the deep 1/3 defender is occupied by a post or other vertical route. I didn't realize that they almost had 100 yards besides Peterson. The most rushing yards they had as a team in a game the last 13 years and yet it's still 21 yards behind what Peterson had individually.
