TheKillerNacho
https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2020/11/17/report-chiefs-plan-to-sign-deandre-baker-to-practice-squad/ Giants cut Baker only a year after making him the 30th overall pick in the 2019 draft. Now, a day after the charges leading to his release were dropped, the Chiefs have decided to scoop him up to their practice squad. The Chiefs could definitely use the Corner help. TENINCH
Seems like the Giants should get first opportunity to resign him or a high draft pick if the charges are dropped. Wouldn't have been cut if the charges weren't filed.

You can't just steal a player off of someone's practice squad without the player agreeing to it Plus I am pretty sure he still gets all of his rookie contract paid to him since they are guaranteed, so he got paid 4 years for 1 year of work. Edit: Looks like he earned $6.1MM according to OTC Edited November 18, 2020 by JBURGE

TheKillerNacho
Players can't control a team putting in a waiver claim for them when cut, but they can absolutely choose to not sign a contract while a member of a practice squad lol.

Also I’d assume this has to do with COVID protocol.

Chiefs_5627
Can't say I know much about the guy but normally we don't have anything close to a first round pick at CB. Ward - UDFA by Dallas, Breeland - 4th Round by Wash, Fenton - 6th Round, Sneed (on ir) - 4th round and Hamilton - UDFA by Oak.
