We could start people off at 10% or 20% above what they are projected to end up with. Let me see where there values land from the PFF grading takes me. sparky151
Ok, I'll go through and grab the info. PFF has top 150 free agents. Spotrac has the most prominent free agents. I'll see if OTC has any predicted contract valuations. Should have it by end of week. If you send me the link to your current master worksheet, I'll add the data. ny92mike
@sparky151 Thoughts on this as a solution to the extension APY values. We base it off the contract length, longer the contract length the greater the APY value. The way I'm seeing it is I could see a team offer a player a 2 year contract for a lesser amount for an average player, so we take the greater of the two values (projected APY / ROFR and tag values). A top end player's projected APY being high will force you to offer a long term deal but with an average player you'd be able to offer a cheap short term deal. QB Tag Values Tag Values Contract Length Percent Right of First Refusal $2,828,000 1 3.49% Second Round $4,633,000 2 5.72% First Round $6,464,000 3 7.98% Transition Tag $31,158,000 4 38.45% Franchise Tag $35,952,000 5 44.37% I'll get you a copy of the player database to plug the numbers in. So a player with an APY of 10 mil would want 144.37% of that for a 5 year deal but only 105.72% for a 2 year deal?
jch1911
So I looked through the players with voided contacts (re: OTC) @sparky151 @ny92mike I looked for prominent players + players whose projected APY was way out of whack with OTC & / or Spotrac Player Spotrac OTC 0135 - Baker Mayfield – QB $27,128,125 $32,095,000 0651 - Gus Edwards – RB $3,639,043 $3,785,000 0395 - Dalton Schultz - TE $11,338,251 $8,393,000 0367 - Curtis Samuel – WR $11,536,940 $4,486,000 0368 - D.J. So a player with an APY of 10 mil would want 144.37% of that for a 5 year deal but only 105.72% for a 2 year deal? The percent is just the percent value of the dollar amount. Using your example his APY value would be 10m x the percentage value. So for a contract length 3 years or less it would be around the 10 million range for his APY value, 4 or 5 it would fall under the tag values. Basically it's the greater value; either the tag value or the projected value x the percent value. In the sample below a 5 year deal would be the tag value because it's higher than his APy value x the percentage value (14 million). Select Player Name 3328 - Carson Wentz - QB Projected APY Value $9,790,900 Tag Values Contract Length Percent Right of First Refusal $2,828,000 1 3.49% Second Round $4,633,000 2 5.72% First Round $6,464,000 3 7.98% Transition Tag $31,158,000 4 38.45% Franchise Tag $35,952,000 5 44.37% Contract Build Contract Length 5 APY Value $35,952,000 $14,134,732 Max APY Value $35,952,

sparky151
It's weird that OTC thinks Tee Higgins is only worth 1 mil more than backup TE Drew Sample. But as long as we use the highest value for all players it should work out. Teams will wait on the guys who overpriced themselves. It's basically a Dutch auction where bidding starts high and goes down until the first bidder meets the price vs an English auction where the price starts low and gets bid up over multiple rounds.
