I'm interested in further suggestions for TCMD.

Appreciate it.

First thing I've got to do is clean up the issues from the last one.  I've already started working on fixing the APY values as that was a nightmare last time around especially with IDL and other defensive positions.  I'll post that data once I'm finished for you guys to look over and see if anything else can be done to make it better.  The other major issue with last years mock were some formulas that made it very difficult to extend a players contract so I'll get that fixed as well.

I'd love to be able to work in the "SIM" at the tail end of the mock if possible.  My mock always seems to end so abruptly I think it would be nice to add a simulated season to open it up for more discussion.

I'm always open to suggestions and to constructive criticism.

So I'm close to having the APY value formulas finished up but I've still got to create the grading system to see how it looks.

The new values drop more aggressively than previous.

I'm also searching for a Commish, typically I've always had a mod fill this role but I'm opening it up to non-mods.  So if interested please let me know.

Commish helps me keep the discussion thread involved as well as works with me in managing the workbooks, mainly the draft board and trade approvals.

In the early rounds of free agency bidding, signing bonus should be a bigger % of the overall contract value. The signing bonus should probably be in the 25-40% range for the top guys.

Agreed.  What I've done in the past is take the average GTD % by position which do seem a bit on the low end.

Position
Signing Bonus %
QB Quarterback 38.6%
RB Running Back 20.5%
FB Running Back 22.5%
TE Tight End 19.6%
WR Wide Receiver 23.8%
LT Offensive Lineman 32.9%
LG Offensive Lineman 21.9%
C Offensive Lineman 22.8%
RG Offensive Lineman 26.9%
RT Offensive Lineman 26.8%
EDGE Defensive End 31.9%
IDL Defensive Tackle 23.0%
LB Linebacker 20.6%
CB Cornerback 21.2%
S Safety 23.9%
K Kicker 25.4%
P Punter 19.4%
LS Offensive Lineman 14.0%

I'll see if I can't get a better % value for SB.  If the values below seem too high let me know, I can rework it.  I got this data from OTC contract listing.  We could also adjust these values based on the APY values, higher the APY value the greater the SB %.

Position Current New
QB 38.6% 73.6%
RB 20.5% 51.0%
FB 22.5% 49.0%
TE 19.6% 52.5%

What QB's get 73% of their total contract value as SB? Are you combining signing bonus and guaranteed money? In the NFL, it's uncommon for players to have guaranteed money past year 2 at signing. They usually get rolling guarantees with an early exercise date so they will be back on the market if the team chooses not to keep them.

In TCMD, our GMs are a lot more willing than real life GMs to guarantee salary in years 3 and beyond. DeShaun Watson and Kirk Cousins got guaranteed year 3 salaries at signing but they are the outliers. My suggestion is that free agents, at least in the first couple of rounds, ask for more signing bonus since that is money in hand.

Those values are calculated averages using real contracts.  You know I don't like using personal data, that said I can figure out a different formula to get the numbers.  Good eye, totally overllooked this, but yes, these percentages are based on guaranteed money using this site link, https://overthecap.com/contracts , but now that you pointed it out it probably is accounting for all guarantees as well so I'll rework these numbers to account for SB only, that should produce values more in line which what you are thinking.

Let me rework these numbers and get you SB values.  As for the guarantee money outside of SB I'm not worried about since the only two values we are using to create a contract is base salary and SB.

Agreed, it's currently set up to drop after each round of bidding just like APY values.

Much appreciated.  I could definitely use some help with updating the data for trades, extensions and restructures.  These type of transactions take the most time to update and have yet to find a faster easier way to do it.
