I'll answer what is obviously a rhetorical question. Inactives can't be read because they don't post. Because of the number of players, at least some inactives will be scum. Because it's Day 1, reads are spotty at best, and lynching inactives immediately on Day 1 when you have no better reliable options gives you a chance to hit scum that you normally won't hit, and should motivate inactives to post more so they don't just get lynched. Furthermore, inactive players are inherently less useful to the town than actives. So mislynches are less damaging. Which, like I said, everyone knows.
