If the Saints are looking to create cap space somehow, moving Lattimore would be a sensible solution. They may value Lattimore to the point of refusing to move him. That's fine. But then someone else is going to have to go via trade or cut. Nobody is trading a 1st for Lattimore. I would be shocked. How aren't you getting this? They aren't shaving anything off of their contracts. The restructured base salary is turned into a Signing Bonus that is paid immediately and the cap hit is just spread out over the remaining years for accounting purposes.
