You cant call Mahomes the new model, he is the new unicorn.

Brady was the one before him, and Montana before that.

There is like one of these guys 20 years or more that is in a situation to win multiple superbowls with a great coach and a good roster.

Yep. Mahomes will win 3-5 Super Bowls and there will be one main rival of his who will win 2-3. the others won’t win more than 1.

Question is, who will be that one main rival?

I know safe money is on Dwayne Haskins to be that guy, but it could be someone like Josh Allen, I guess.

It shouldn’t be groundbreaking stuff. But it is unfortunately given what we’ve been seeing from some of the more vocal QBs in the league. Not just Rodgers but Wilson and Watson. Also think about what happened to Luck. Or even Ben before they started getting him more OL help as well as a proper OL coach.

A lot of this has to do with AFTER they sign the $C2 and now take up 1/5 ( or more) or the salary cap.  GMs can't miss very much on high picks when they have no money for FA.  Ben signed his $C2 then the cap sent stagnate for 2 years so players get cut and you have Justin Hartwig at the center position.  It can be hard to build a team when you have to cut talent and rely on the draft.

If "draft an elite QB and win with them on their rookie deal" is the new model Mahomes wasn't the one who started that and it's not so easy to do. If "draft the best QB in the NFL and surround him with elite talent" is the model that also didn't start with Mahomes and also isn't easy to accomplish.

Mahomes ranked #1 out of 28 eligible QBs in IMPs (Inspirational Motivation Plays) according to Next Gen Stats, which directly shows which plays are inspired by pregame or halftime speeches.

Tim Tebow is #2 and didn't even throw a pass last season (he's eligible because... I mean, it's Tebow).

Eh I think it’ll be more. Gonna be tougher without prime Kelce and rookie cap hit though

They have two young TEs that are catching everything close. One is a bulked up WR.

The Chiefs will be cutting WR and TE that could have started in the pre-Reid era.
