if i recall correctly we actually ran a similar play with jonnu against the jaguars that ended up going for like 60 on the first play of the game. that podcast that sean mcvay hosts for MMQB had arthur smith on a little while back and mcvay specifically commented on how much he loved that play

Yup, it’s similar but not exactly the same. That throwback type play is something we’ve used since the Mularkey days (remember that game winner Mariota threw his rookie year against the Saints). It’s nice to see Downing still has that in the offensive well.

That's the beauty of this offense. You can run the same play from different formations. I feel like Smith discussed that or maybe it was Cosell.
