Is it a bad staff? No. I'm sure it'll recruit well, but outside of Huggins and Leavitt, who are the proven coaches?(especially if Dugans stays at Miami) Many coaches are hired for their recruiting ability, it is the name of the game in college football. As long as your DC and OC, if the HC doesn't do it, are solid, they really do not need the best position coaches in the world, but they do need solid recruiters. The DC and the OC/HC can show each assistent coach exactly what he wants the position coach to teach. So it hardly matters how great the position coach is!!! jrry32
I'm surprised nobody mentioned this: https://www.si.com/college-football/2017/12/17/oregon-jim-leavitt-staying-defensive-coordinator-new-deal Leavitt is staying at Oregon. That's huge for Oregon and a huge blow to FSU.
JammerHammer21
Oregon is paying him $1.7 million. That's ridiculous.

And it's not a great vote of confidence to give Cristobal only $800K more than a coordinator IMO

Leavitt is a stud DC. Most think he was more important than Taggart.
Phire
For 1.7m they can keep him. Plus Taggart has been telling recruits this weekend who his staff will be and it sounds like Leavitt was already out of the plans.

Scalamania
So it went from Taggart, Cristobal, Arroyo and Leavitt all going to FSU to just Taggart going - I'd be a tad disappointed if he was brought to UF and this happened.
