It's week 11. How are those free agent pickups doing?

Chargers

Corey Linsley - Been as advertised. Brings a high level of leadership and cohesion to what was the weakest part of our team for years. Absolute stud.

Matt Feiler - Been one of the best run blockers in the league, but is a little lackluster in pass protection. Still, he brings some nastiness and tenacity to the line.

Oday Aboushi - Much, MUCH better than expected. I thought he was gonna be very mediocre, considering the Lions let him walk at 2 million. That was completely wrong. He played very well prior to his ACL Tear.

Ryan Smith - Solid special teamer. Not much else to say. He did what he did in Tampa.

Jared Cook - He has been a very serviceable replacement for Hunter Henry, and has looked better than him at times. I'm satisfied with Cook's production, especially at a discount (Also, on the subject of Henry, he's playing better than I ever saw him play in his 5 years as a Charger. Good for you, Pats.)

Kyler Fackrell - Bust. Hasn't shown up very often at all, and he's one of the reasons why teams can double Bosa all game. He provides no real threat from the other Edge.

Christian Covington - He made some plays, but overall just kinda meh. He's a rotational player on the D-Line for one of the worst run defenses in the league, so yeah.

The Bills free agents.

Manny Sanders started real well, has been in the shadows the last few weeks. Good vet though.

Mat Haack is nothing special for a punter.

Idek what other free agents we signed lmao

Oh Matt Brieda scored twice yesterday, after being inactive in all but one other game this season

JJ3 - Overall a disappointment, but Woods isn't playing to his strengths (shocker). Playing him deep centerfield too often instead of in the box. Had a very good game vs. Cincinnati, though.

Anthony Walker - Just bad and wasn't missed when he was injured. We were better off with BJ Goodson.

Troy Hill - Bad game against the Pats, great game against the Bengals. Overall I'd say he's been an above average signing for us so far.

Clowney - Has been as advertised. Elite vs. the run, can rush the passer but struggles to get home. I'd still be hesitant to give him a long-term deal given his injury history, but he's definitely been very good opposite Garrett.

Malik Jackson - Pretty meh.

Takk McKinley - Has been a solid rotational DE.

Haason Reddick, EDGE (1 year, $8 million): Maybe one of the best FA signings in the league. He's been an impact pass rusher with 9.5 sacks through 10 games. He's going to get PAID next offseason, hopefully by us.

Frankie Luvu, OLB (1 year, $920k): Has emerged as a key contributor on defense and has easily out-performed this contract.

DaQuan Jones, DT (1 year, $4 million): Has been solid as a starting DT. I have no complaints with this move.

Morgan Fox, DL (2 years, $8.5 million): For the money, this has been a solid move. He's been a solid and versatile contributor.

A.J. Bouye, CB (2 years, $7 million): He's been a solid contributor, but likely wouldn't be playing a ton had it not been for Jaycee Horn's injury.

Cameron Erving, OT (2 years, $10 million): I was not a fan of this signing at the time and while he was a little better than I expected before going on I.R. I still think this money could have been better spent.

Pat Elflein, OL (3 years, $13.5 million): Another one I wasn't crazy about at the time, he was awful at guard before being injured. He has moved to center since Matt Paradise was hurt and looked half-decent against Arizona this week. Meh.

Dan Arnold, TE (2 years, $6 million): Was our starter through 3 weeks before being traded to Jacksonville as part of the C.J. Henderson trade. Didn't really do much, but it was a limited sample size.
Grade: D

Denzel Perryman, LB (2 years, $6 million): Missed most of training camp and was traded to the Raiders before the season for peanuts.

Chiefs:

Joe Thuney, LG, 5 year, $80M: As advertised, though I think there was little doubt about how he'd perform. He was a great G in New England, he's been a great G so far for us. Not the road grader some of our younger guys are, but without any of the mental errors or growing pains. Pretty sure he's allowed 0 sacks, barely any pressures, and has all around just been rock solid.

Austin Blythe, C, 1 year, $990k: Hasn't played a snap because Creed Humphrey has been arguably the best center in football this season as a rookie.

Jerrick McKinnon, RB, 1 year, $850k: Not what some hoped, as many hoped he'd take over 3rd down duties and possibly the #2 RB spot, but he's cheap and functional as a #3 back and a passing down specialist. Good pass blocker, takes what's given in the run and pass game, but gets basically nothing more.

Michael Burton, FB, 1 year, $850k: Picked up where Anthony Sherman left off. Low snap count, but high performing when he's in.

Jarran Reed, DT, 1 year, $5.5M: Incredibly underwhelming start. His signing is part of what made the team think they could move Jones to DE, and his lack of performance to start the year was part of why everyone begged for them to move Jones back. Now that we have started to move Jones back, Reed's performance has been steadily improving. Had his best game as a Chief against the Raiders. If he goes back to what he was weeks 1 through 5, this is a bust. If he keeps up the past week or two of play, it's a great signing. We'll see.

Josh Gordon, WR, 1 year, $990k: Has not been what Chiefs fans hoped, instead has been what anyone reasonable would've expected. He's getting more and more snaps, eating into the snap counts of Robinson and Hardman, who have historically been unreliable players, but he's not getting targeted yet. Coaches and Mahomes all say it's just a matter of time. Might still be getting in full football shape. I don't watch closely enough to know if that's true or not. But his 33 snaps against Vegas was the most he's had so far. Really just hope to see the targets and catches start going. He has done well as a blocker, though, which is what's let him take snaps away from Robinson.

Trades:

Orlando Brown, LT: Steadily improved as the year has gone on. The Vegas game might have been his best as a Chief. Overall he's been above average on the year in both pass pro and run blocking, some of the early weeks were just rough as he didn't have the familiarity with Mahomes that Fisher did, and it takes some time to get used to Mahomes's drop depth on some plays.

Melvin Ingram, DE: Wish we had just gotten him in free agency in the first place, but early returns are excellent. Helped move Jones back to DT, which is huge, and he's already made some plays in the form of pressures and TFLs.

Mike Hughes, CB: He's been okay. Definitely better when he's relegated to CB3 or CB4. When he had to start a full game, Philly abused him all day long. When he sees 20 to 30 snaps in nickel or dime packages, he's a solid player.

Green Bay:

De'Vondre Campbell - This guy has been a godsend.  Probably a Pro Bowl player.  He has become a tackling machine and plays sideline to sideline.

Dennis Kelly - Injured for the most part, and I think contributed to a FG being blocked when he was active.

Whitney Mercilus - Very good as a rotational pass rusher for us.  Injured his biceps against Seattle, and probably misses the rest of the season.   I thought this guy was going to be an also ran, but he has some gas left in the tank.

Rasul Douglas - I don't know how this guy was not on a roster.  He is good for one mistake per game, and otherwise has been very, very good when pressed into a starting role.

Jaylon Smith - Didn't have anything left.  Has already been released, probably because of special teams inability.

HOW DARE YOU FORGET COREY BOJORQUEZ!!

Him, Campbell and Douglas have all played superb. Gute is a wizard.
