49ers offseason 2022

The 2022 49ers will have the fewest games in the Eastern or Central Time Zones on their schedule with 3 this year - they play 2 games in the Eastern Time Zone at former division rivals Atlanta and Carolina, and 1 in the Central at Chicago.

While the Cardinals also have 3 road games in those time zones (playing at the same NFC South teams as San Francisco), they will play one of their home games in Mexico City, which is in the Central Time Zone, thus giving them 4 games between ET/CT in 2022.

Strangely enough, we actually do very well on the Eastern and Central Time Zone games. Have one of the best records from any team in the WC in recent years.

On the opposite end of the spectrum, the Steelers are scheduled to stay entirely with the ETZ during 2022, as all 9 of their road opponents are in that time zone. Only one other team has done that in the modern era - the 2010 Bengals. It's very likely that only AFC North teams will be able to do this, as every 12 years starting in 2010 they are assigned the AFC East (entirely in ETZ like the AFC North) and NFC South (three of four teams in ETZ). Now that the schedule is 17 games, in years the AFC North has the whole NFC South, each AFC North team will play one game at a team in the NFC East - and one of their members, the Cowboys, is in the Central Time Zone. Like the 2010 Bengals, the 2022 Steelers managed to draw an Eastern Time team as their assigned AFC South opponent on the road, both times it was the Colts. The Steelers also were able to draw in-state rivals the Eagles as their assigned NFC East opponent. Both the 2010 Bengals and 2022 Steelers got road games at Atlanta and Carolina.

Unless they are in KC.. I went to two 49ers games at Arrowhead and both were an embarrassment 😮💨

Had some good times in St Louis though!

Just did more research. The 2004 Ravens are actually the first modern era NFL team to play their entire schedule in the ETZ. That year most of Indiana still did not observe DST, but DST had ended by the time the Ravens got to Indianapolis in December.

The Steelers also never left the ETZ in 2016.

So this can happen every 6 years, the next time an AFC North team can play their entire schedule in the ETZ after 2022 is 2028, which can either be Baltimore or Cincinnati that season.

EDIT: The 2007 Bills played their entire schedule in the ETZ as well the 2019 Jets; it has not yet happened in a season the AFC East was assigned the AFC North and NFC South, which next occurs in 2025, when AFC East teams will also host a single NFC East opponent

Can we approach Jimmy and get him to take a pay cut? Say, 1 year ten million like andy dalton last year? He can get healthy and back up lance; If lance gets hurt then he can have the chance to come in and play well and rebuild his value to earn a starter job next year? anyone know how the financials work on that? Basically shave down his 27 mil to 10 mil..would we open up 17 mil in space that way?

Yes, but I'd be doing that to facilitate a trade, not keep him. I think keeping him is potentially creating an unnecessary headache down the line

Agreed. The locker room will be divided if Jimmy stays on the team. Can’t happen, but knowing how this FO likes drama, who knows jk (hopefully)…
