end of the day, I think everyone was in the wrong on this. the joke may seem tame to some, but it's not your place to decide how it makes someone feel. and the Academy Awards is supposed to be a family friendly event and the jokes are supposed to be good-natured. Maybe Chris Rock really didn't know about her condition, but that's on him and everyone who vetted his jokes to not have properly researched or caught it. Will is in the wrong because you obviously can't assault people. Jada is to be determined, but even if she encouraged what Will did, it's pretty weird that people immediately jump to blaming her without any solid evidence.

They literally made a LeBron James hairline joke the same event and no one has said a word about it. No overreactions. No assaults. No "this is crossing a line". If Will didn't assault Chris not one person would be saying the joke was inappropriate. Let's stop the hypocrisy.

Think you need to ease up here in that these are *entirely* different situations.

My wife ultimately passed from breast cancer but during her rather extensive treatments(s) she decided - as many (if not most) cancer patients do - to shave her head. She purchased a couple nice wigs - wore then on occasion and looked just fine - but ultimately, she chose to maintain a close cropped hairstyle. As both a matter of convenience (i.e. the next round of chemo was never far off....) and comfort. It's just far more comfortable NOT to be wearing wigs - especially in Florida where we lived.

In our journey, we *never* came across a cancer patient who was voluntarily shaving their head prior to it becoming a necessity. Not one.

Clearly you're missing the point here. Outpost claims that this is not the first time she has shaved her head. Clearly he is referencing that in the mid-1990's, she shaved her head as a style choice. He's then making the claim that because she made that choice nearly 30 years ago, that it means that she's free reign to be joked about now. Dome is simply asking, if she had cancer, would it be the same thing? Could we laugh at her shaving her head due to cancer at 49 years old because when she was 22 she shaved her head for a couple years?

The response will be Jada is a woman, and that doesn’t add up because that’s not equality.

If people really don't think Jada was the reason Will went up there, you must think he is a dangerous level of unstable. He went from laughing at the joke to smacking Chris in a matter of like 12 seconds.

How Will Smith reacts to Jadas reaction is not in her control.

Do you think women have mind control powers?

Let’s start a discussion on whether or not fat jokes are acceptable and you’d see the hypocrisy.

You can help being fat as a celebrity. So that joke is okay, right?

Not to this lot, so they’re trying to dictate safe jokes.

I just read somewhere that it’s okay as long as it’s a treatable condition.

Imagine thinking that a hair transplant and a disease that causes hair loss are comparable topics.

I do not however thanks to Jada, we all have more of an insight into their relationship than we should and coming to the conclusion that she instigated it (whether she said anything or just gave him a dirty look) is not farfetched at all.

Now regardless of what she may or may not have done, Will had no right to go up there. He should have pulled him aside after the show and mentioned her condition and given Chris a chance to respond to that face to face.

Nearly 85% of men will experience balding before they turn 50… over two thirds will experience it by the time they’re 35

its not a medical condition for most men, it’s just a part of aging

I suspect this is why it’s not such a horrible thing to joke about, not because of some double standard being enacted through hypocrisy.

It’s not a disease it’s an autoimmune disorder you don’t know what you’re talking about.

Autoimmune “disorders” are literally called autoimmune diseases by people who actually know what they’re talking about.
