AlexGreen#20
But Shuri was Black Panther in the comics!?!?!?! And? They ******* sucked.
Ragnarok
I want to see M'Baku become Black Panther. Winston Duke was awesome in the first movie and it could make for some very interesting plot lines balancing what he thinks is best vs. what T'Challa's family thinks. Plus, M'Baku could fight. Most I have read involving the MCU aligned Shuri was Ironheart - which is Riri Williams when she went to Wakanda for an excursion and butted heads then bonded with Shuri for both being black and geniuses When everybody was in such a rush to write the Wokest character that they accidentally released the same character twice. Good times.

That, a reformed Killmonger, or a champion by trials is basically the only way this isn't rough.

I hope they don't bring back Killmonger. I feel like thatd take away from the first movie.

Good times. not at all the same character.. what is this post? Riri is a teenager from Chicago who made an Iron Man suit out of her garage, is super shy, has experienced a lot of loss in her life (both her father and step father died) and it defines her, and she goes to MIT. Shuri in the MCU is a princess who is the chief technological scientist in her entire country who is outgoing and funny having experienced very little hardship in her life. Oh and she doesn't troll around in an Iron Man suit.

While true, if Kilmonger was given a redemption arc, it could work. Besides, it wouldn't even be the first time that Jordan replaced Boseman in the industry. The only difference between the two of them is which backstory they were painted with.

No... they dont... they have literally one thing in common and it's that they are smart. This is like saying Reed Richards and Peter Parker are the same character. This is like saying Reed Richards and Peter Parker are the same character. Even before we get into things involving the actual plots of their books and the unavoidable consequence of becoming relevant in the same time period and the natural plot similarities that causes, things like Age, Race, Team Role, and Power Type are all obvious additional similarities. Hell, replacing an already massively popular male superhero basically forces the same early set of books as they l the writer tries to differentiate and establish a unique identity from the predecessor. Reed Richards had stretchy powers in addition to being smart and having nigh unlimited resources for gadgets and inventions. Peter Parker has spider powers in addition to being smart and is broke as hell. Him being broke plays a part in his story. Him being shy plays a part in his story. Riri Wilson is allegedly broke early on, but this is never a thing that is relevant to her story. Riri Wilson is also allegedly shy, but again, it's irrelevant. It never causes her problems. He refused help at the end and while they could retcon him to being in stasis or something, I think it would take away from his characters story and resolve. His determination made him so compelling as a villain. You change that, I think you remove a fair amount of who he was.

AlexGreen#20
6 minutes ago, Deadpulse said: It matter for Peter but not Riri... got it Him being broke creates tension with having to balance his family, his superhero life, and his job. These are very well established sources of conflict in Spider-Man comics. It also shapes the character of Peter Parker. It very visibly affects his self confidence and that manifests itself in real ways. Him being shy prevents him from going after MJ and being happy. It creates tension with Harvey Osborn that eventually manifests into Hobgoblin being a character. It causes significant relationship strife. It's the reason that the Black Cat relationship falls apart and is amusing. Riri being broke affects . . . what? Riri being shy affects . . . what? Hell, take the relationships of Peter Parker and Reed Richards. Reed Richards is a man trying to balance his incredibly demanding hero/professional life with raising children. He needs to work with his wife to share the domestic responsibilities while also understanding that she has professional aspirations of her own It's a relatable conflict for men of a certain age and familial life style. Peter Parker is a teenager/college graduate working two "jobs" busting his *** to get them both to stop interfering with his love life, which more frequently than not is failing. Again, very relatable for many.
