This is a very interesting point. It does look like those dopes in Philly made the 2023 salary guaranteed for injury. To paraphrase “Hey Jude”: 🎶 Take a bad deal / and make it badder 🎶 Given that, I’m not sure you can play Wentz, unless you absolutely have to. You’d have to be certain that Wentz was the better option — and while I suspect that might be the case, I’m pretty sure I’m not certain enough to gamble $26M getting dumped on our 2023 cap on it. No, it’s only $4 mil that Wentz is guaranteed for injury. So, if he gets hurt it’s just a $4 million cap hit. If they wanted to move on from Wentz bc say he sucks down the stretch as our starter vs CLE & Dallas & we miss the playoffs then we can still cut Wentz before March & save $22 million.
