Yeah it's not the overall ability of the defense that matters vs the Chiefs(though obviously it helps), it's the scheme.

The Titans, with Simmons, Autry and Dupree(and last year Landry too, but he's out for the year sadly) can get pressure with just 4 rushers and can drop 7 in to coverage.

That is the tried and true method of slowing down the Chiefs. Most teams just aren't capable of getting pressure with only 4 though.

It's honestly not even that, though. San Fran has a great front 4 too. We're just no more immune to having off days than anyone else. A Hardman drop, a Kelce drop, some dumb penalties. Tennessee is playing well, but the team also just doesn't always play as well as they did against San Fran, and people get really confused and try to draw extreme conclusions from when that happens.

You would think tenn would be more effective with the lead, but that doesnt seem to be the case

Can never put teams away. It’s also kind of hard when you’re down to a backup QB who can’t throw and a 4th and 5th string receiver. Plus a turnstile at LT. Doesn’t even factor in the worst OC in football

Tyreek doesn't even matter when you can rush 4 and drop back 7 vs them. Held them to 3 points last year with Tyreek on the field.

Pretty much every team to stifle the Chiefs follows that blueprint.

The shell out over cover 2 thing has not borne out as being anything actually effective given that they've moved the ball against defenses that have done that to them that achieved pass rush win rates above 25%. Right now they just don't have real ability to dictate overloads and don't have the same dynamicism of motion and concepts.

It’s pretty gross how officials line up each game to make sure Mahomes doesn’t lose.

I believe he has the most overturned INTs due to “flags” as well.

This drive they’ll have KC in a 3rd and long and they’ll flag TEN for the weakest holding or PI call after they get the stop.
