MKnight82's Top 20 Christmas Songs of All Time

Its Christmas Eve and I'm at my parents house without a lot to do.  So why not a top 20 list!  This list is just my opinion, and I picked a specific performance of a song by a performer but each song will only appear once on this list.  I would describe my Christmas song taste as very old school and secular.  Anyways, here's the list!

20. Chuck Berry – Run Rudolph Run

- This is my 3 year old son's current favorite Christmas song.

19. Johnny Mathis – We Need A Little Christmas

- A little corny, but I like the chorus.

18. Jose Feliciano – Feliz Navidad

- If this comes on the radio there's no way you don't sing along with it.

17. Perry Como – There’s No Place Like Home for the Holidays

- This one starts off slow but then picks up.

16. Dean Martin – I’ve Got My Love to Keep Me Warm

 - This is one of the more obscure songs on the list but is a personal favorite of mine.  It has that old school vegas sound to it.

15. Bing Crosby and the Andrews Sisters – Mele Kalikimaka

- Credit Christmas Vacation for this one.

14. Michael Buble – Its Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas

- I couldn't name another song by Michael Buble if you put a gun to my head, but he's pretty good on this one.

13. Jackson 5 – Santa Claus is Coming to Town

- Michael kills it on this song.

12. Johnny Mathis – Winter Wonderland

- This is Johnny's best Christmas song.

11. Frank Sinatra – Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas

- I know the Judy Garland version of this is pretty popular but I like Frank's version better.

10. Bobby Helms – Jingle Bell Rock

- The closest thing to "I've gotta have more cowbell" there is in a Christmas song. Dude just slams those jingle bells the whole song.

9. Brenda Lee – Rockin Around the Christmas Tree

- If you need to make two potential robbers think that your parents are actually home and having a slamming party, this is is your song.

8. Burl Ives – Holly Jolly Christmas

- Upbeat song with a good accompanying band.

7. Dean Martin – Baby its Cold Outside

- The best Christmas song about some dude trying to get laid. Been performed by everyone, I like Dean Martin's version the best.

6. Frank Sinatra – I’ll Be Home for Christmas

- I believe this is a WWI or WWII song. This is Frank's best Christmas song.

5. The Ronettes – Sleigh Ride

- This is another song that there is a lot of different versions of it, I just think the Ronettes absolutely sleigh it.

4. Andy Williams – It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year

- This song just makes me happy.

3. Darlene Love – Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)

- Arguably the best vocal performance of any Christmas song of all time.

2. Bing Crosby – White Christmas

- We watch this movie every year on Christmas.  Its just tradition. The song is great too.

1. Nat King Cole – The Christmas Song

- And here it is, the greatest Christmas song of all time.

People will scoff at this, but it was quite good.   Their harmonies are amazing on their rendition of Oh Holy Night.     A few solid original Christmas songs too.

Nice list, hard to disagree pretty much anywhere.  I'm not a Buble guy either, but his entire Christmas album is pretty solid top to bottom.  Neil Diamond had a nice Christmas album back in the 80's that my parents had the tape, so we'd listen to it in the car on the way to my Grandparents every year.
