Offense
This week against Rome we get a tough test against a very good team. Their defense presents some challenges at every level, so this is how we will attack them.

Attack the edges- Rome has a stout defensive line, but for the most part they are power players. We want to use our offensive lineman's athletic ability to get the Rome defensive line to move side to side, in both facets of the game. So we'll run lots of sweeps, off tackles plays in the run game, and then a lot of misdirection and bootleg rollouts for Brissett in the pass game.

Take shots over the top- Rome has a quality secondary, even with Jenkins out, but we think we can find room over the top. Chung and Addae are quality players, but both do more of their best work closer to the LOS as strong safeties. With our first course of action being establishing the outside run and moving the pocket for Brissett, we think Chung and Addae's aggressive nature will force them to bite on some play action. All 3 of my starting WR's are capable of getting over the top, so they can't key on 1 guy.

Safety valves- To help keep our options available over the top, we plan on having plenty of safety valves for Brissett. Engram and Njoku will work lots of crossing routes to occupy Chung and the LB's, to help keep Rome from throwing too many exotic blitzes at us. Duke Johnson is as good a receiving back as there is in the NFL, and he'll be key out of the back field should Rome sleep on him.

Defense
We're very familiar with Rome's QB, as he was our signal caller for a couple of seasons before we decided to move on. It's going to take a big effort to slow him down but we think we can.

Take away the run game- Brees has been able to rely on his running game IRL, and for Rome he gets to hand the ball off to a great RB in Gurley. We'll keep a base 4-3 defense, as long as Rome decides to stay heavy with two TE's. Our defense brings a strong run defense to the table every week, even in nickel situations, but with an added LB in and Reggie Ragland in reserve we think we can limit how much Gurley can hurt us.

Cover 1 Robber- None of this matters because even though my starting corners have played pretty well this year, people will see the names in the line up and not bother reading game plan, but in case you do: Brees can throw the ball to all levels of the field, but Rome's best weapons do their best work in the intermediate part of the field. Crabtree, Cooper and his TE's are all capable weapons but we think we can condense the field on Brees. With the cover 1, we can focus on playing press man on the outside and keeping Byard over the top. If Ginn is in the game, Byard will shade to his side. If Ginn is on the sideline, that will help Byard key in and read Brees' and play passing lanes. Jamal Adams will be key in this one, as he'll work close to the LOS to help in run support, blitz off the edge, allow the LB's to blitz and cover their responsibilities and generally crowd the intermediate part of the field.

Motivation

We are still in the hunt to win our division, but we need to win out.  We will not be able to look past Camden

Offense

This week we open up the playbook a bit and let Brees throw it around the yard a bit more than usual.  We plan on running a whole lot of no huddle this game to take advantage of our oppositions lack of pass rushing depth while tiring out a very good pass rushing combo on the edges

However, saying we are going to pass more than usual does not mean we are neglecting the runnng game by any strech. We still look to get Gurley about 20 carries in the run game. We are going to use pulling guards and a moving OJ Howard to run at the edges against the pass rushing ends of Camden.  Once we seal these players off, we feel we can have success against a LB duo that has mostly struggled defending the run this year. Between the runnong plan and the hurry up, we expect the oppositions line to be gassed by the second half

We welcome back Corey Coleman to the starting lineup today as this development allows us to move Cooper into the slot where we feel he can be more explosive than normal.    We feel we have the advantage on the outside in one on one coverage with Camden short their number one corner this week.  We will constantly have Howard or Gurley chip a rusher on their way out into their pattern.  There will also be times one of these two will completely stay in to block (likely Howard).  Early on, we will have Howard block on the majority of plays to sneak him out off of a play action later on.  This has worked many times in real life this year for the Bucs with a fake block wheel route for Howard

We will rotate RIddick in on third and longs and AP gets some goal line work and occasionally spells Gurley.  Ginn comes in to run off a safety on occasion to help us work underneath.  If Camden starts playing more of a cover one look, we will be looking for Cooper and Ginn on go routes and corners.  Cooper will generally be in motion pre snap to help Brees discover if it is a zone or man defense.  We will trust Drew to make the correct audible in zone situations

TL?DR     More run heavy this week.  Work off of playaction.  Long drives that will tire out the defense and keep ours fresh, Eliminate Mack from making a difference

Defense

Camden is down its top two weapons this week and has been trying to utilize mismatches with Engram and Johnson in the passing game to generate offense.  The formation we are using should help slow down these two.  We have plans below for if Darkwa sees the field instead of duke/ a third WR

In Johnson bakfield formations we will be using a 3-3-5 defense.  We feel we have some solid run stuffers up front while the Camden line is more of a pass blocking unit with two major holes at center and RT. With the speedy Johnson on the field we want to maintain more lateral quickness the up the field strength.

This formation helps us by allowing a few wrinkles to the defense.  First it lets us put Pat Chung, BB’s tight end eraser over Evan Engram.  Secondly it lets us have a roamer defender in William Jackson who is going to line up on the Johnson side of the field.  HIs only responsibility for the game will to be to cover Johnson, Jackson has blazing speed and the cover skills to eliminate Johnson from the equation.  Wth both Engram and Njoku being undeveloped as blockers we like having the extra speed on the field

On the outside we have Jenkins and Humphrey with Amukamara taking the slot. Camden has some fun young wide receivers but no one we feel threatened by yet against our corner trio.  We will be playing a cover one look with a LB underneath and Addae over the top.  This formation also allows us to send some blitzes and run some stunts mainly on the right side of the line with a LB who is not in zone.  Both Mosely and Woodyard are capable of doing this and the fact that we can switch back and forth should keep the youngster Brissett guessing as well as the offensive line.  We will even be able to mix in some exotic zone blitzes this week with the mulititude of cover guys we have on the field.  THe LB cover one robber underneath look also puts a spy on Brissett to stop any scrambling he may attempt

For when Darkwa is on the field, we will either pull off Humphrey (for the third WR) or Jackson (If Johnson is out).  We will then run Brockers into the game to eat up the middle of the field and snuff out the run game.  Darkwa is not a major threat in terms of pass catching so it will allow us the option of having the extra D lineman without really changing up our defensive strategy.  Woodyard would be assigned Darkwa in that formation with Mosely keying in on the run and QB spy duties.  We feel our front four would have an advantage with Darkwa in the game and we hope to force Camden into that formation

We will rotating in Curry/Takk for the edges and Brockers for Tomlinson pretty regularly to make sure our defensive line stays fresh as they have more responsibilites to get pressure than we normally place  on them.

TL/DR:  Take away the mismatches Camden likes to use.  Force them to insert Darkwa and try to run the ball more often as we like our matchups up front in that scenario
