On the bright side, in the 6 games Dalton has played against the Vikings, only 2 have ended up as 1-score games...and he's only 2-4 vs. the Vikings in his career (with the wins coming in 2013 when he was on the Bengals and in 2020 with the Cowboys).  Should he start, this will be the 5th time he's played the Vikings since 2020.

The Vikings have also won 5 out of the last 7 games vs. the Panthers...the last loss being in 2017.

This will only be the 2nd time a Frank Reich-coached team will be facing the Vikings.  In the pandemic season of 2020, the Colts beat the Vikings 28-11 at a virtually empty Lucas Oil Stadium (2500 were in the stadium).  As an OC, however, he was 2-1, with both victories coming while OC for the Eagles (the loss was in 2015 when he was OC for Mike McCoy in SD).

Every single game for the rest of this season we'll likely see teams put an emphasis on takeaways on defense, given our current struggles. We should expect teams to try it just about every play.

What can the Vikings do to stop it? Anything coaching related?

What we learned from Week 3:

Carolina Panthers

Passing offense got a boost with Andy Dalton: The Panthers needed better quarterback play after Bryce Young struggled in his first two starts. Getting a 13-year veteran in Dalton was the right call this offseason, as he went 34 of 58 for 361 yards and two touchdowns (88.4 rating). Dalton got the ball to his pass catchers, as Adam Thielen had 11 catches for 145 yards with a touchdown and DJ Chark had four catches for 86 yards and a touchdown.

Dalton had more passing yards in one game than Young had in two. Dalton was 12 of 23 for 140 yards under pressure in the game, not turning the ball over. Dalton shouldn't start over Young, but the Panthers know they can move the ball through the air (it's not the pass catchers).

This  is why you need that solid veteran behind a rookie.

The broadcast crew of the Panthers - Seahawks game mentioned that Carolina's defense is a top 10 defense.  I have to admit, I really don't pay much attention to the Panthers, so, will or offense have problems on Sunday? What are the strengths of the Carolina defense?  What are some match ups to watch for?

With no Luke Kuechly or Thomas Davis any longer, I really have no idea.  🤣  I know that safety that burned us quite a bit in the past...he's still on the team...Jeremy Chinn.

Looking at their roster, they have Justin Houston, former 1st rounder CJ Henderson, that beast Brian Burns and Derrick Brown.  They have the makings of a pretty good defense...it's just their offense that's a major work in progress.  Our tackles will have a major task up against Burns and Houston.

On a different note, outside of the obvious Thielen, Xavier Woods and ISM will also be returning to face the Vikings.
