Greenland

Offensive Formations: 5 wide (4WR, 1 TE) 50%, 3 WR/1RB/1TE 40%, 5 wide (5 WR) 10 %

Offensive Tempo: Slow as possible
Designed Playcall Distribution: 50% pass, 30% run, 20% screens and quick outs

Plan: we want to spread our wide, stacked outside the numbers on both sides of the line of scrimmage.  This will allow quick passes, outs and slants coming back to the middle to work great in man coverage.  While if in zone we have the numbers on the overloaded side and can find the gaps.  Plenty of motion and quick out passes will replaces the running game this week.

Slow mesh run style this week with Barkley and Akers, if Barkley can't go then Akers steps up to the 1 and we run Watson in more end arounds, WR screens, and touch passes
First series of the game: we want to establish the pass and the middle of the field

Defense Base Formation: 3-4 zone run blitz

Run Defense:  We feel that this game could ultimately be decided by how well they can run the ball.  We will be loading the box heavy on run downs.  We want our lineman to push upfield as much as possible to disrupt plays in the backfield and trust our LB core to clean up things at the line of scrimmage.  We will be slanting heavily into the strong side and trying to shoot the gaps when we do and get up field to blow plays up in the back field.

Pass defense: we want to blanket the field by using a heavy amount of zone blitzing.  We will switch into various zone coverages out of our 3-4 base to try and keep the pressure on whoever they run at QB and make him 1) uncomfortable in the pocket and 2) not know who is blitzing or where and what type of zone we are running. We feel that his brain will be more focused on not getting popped that he will miss identify zone schemes and we can get some turnovers.  This will also take away the deep ball and big plays from his stars and force things underneath and right into the teeth of our zone

Within our zone looks we want to bring a decent amount of blitzes from all over the field and to keep their QB uncomfortable in the pocket

Defensive rotation and formations notes:  we have DT, edge, LB, and DB depth to rotate in and keep everyone well rested.  Walker will be all over the field trying to cause havoc and look to utilize his big play abilities in the backfield.  As for formations, even though our base and dominant formation will be 3-4 we do want to sprinkle in some 4-3 and Nickle formations when possible on more clear passing downs

Offense

Tire Greenland defensive front – Greenland is extremely thin on the defensive line. They have 4 players inside (3 if Buckner is out), none of which (except Buckner) play more than half the snaps IRL, and they start three of them. If they field again their 3-4 base, we will attack that defensive line relentlessly with our running game. With 210 yards in the last two games, we have confidence we can get production from Zack Moss and we’ll start him today, with Herbert as the change of pace back. To help him, except a lot of heavier sets, either 2 TE sets or even goal line sets with Zach Tom as a 6th OLineman. We’ll stick to the run as we trust our defense to hold off Greenland offense, and we expect it to pay dividends at the end of the game, with Greenland defensive line totally gassed out.

Target the slot – Greenland usually does a lot of zone blitzing. They may change that this week but either way, they don’t really have someone who can cover the slot effectively (the only CB with experience there is Lattimore, but we figure he’ll start outside). On passing downs, whether in man or zone, we will look at Gabe Davis or Rashid Shaheed with crossing routes. If indeed Greenland keeps its predominant zone blitz coverage, then we’ll put AJ Brown in the slot and target him relentlessly.

Protect Baker – Greenland pass rush doesn’t scare us, especially if Buckner is out. Landry and Walker are struggling, and neither Elliott nor Dexter bring any pass rushing skills to the table. So we think Baker will have time to diagnose whatever coverage Greenland throws at us and find the best target. Jerrick McKinnon will play a hefty dose of passing downs to offer a checkdown option for Baker or help pass protect if needed.

Defense

If Saquon in, 4-2-5 base – Saquon is doubtful for MNF. Should he unexpectedly play, we’ll start with a heavier base, subbing in Luvu for Brisker. If Saquon is in, our defense will be more balanced and less pass defense oriented.

Attack Tua with four – With Saquon presumably out, our focus will be on limiting Greenland passing game. With Cam Akers the lone healthy RB for Greenland, we aren’t too worried of him taking over and we think our DL and our 2nd level (Lavonte and both SS) should be enough to stop Greenland rushing attack. We will line up Philips between C and G so that Donald has a one-on-one matchup against a guard. Our edge rusher group will heavily rotate – they face a strong tackle duo but with fresh legs all game long and solid coverage, we think they can prevail and force Tua to make mistakes. We will throw a couple of zone blitzes here and there with Luvu or a DB to keep Tua guessing, especially if Biadasz is out to put pressure on Spencer Brown playing out of position.

Mix of zone coverages – We will alternate between cover 2 and cover 3, throwing some cover 6 and Tampa 2 occasionally in there as well. Goal is to keep everything tight and make Tua beat us without much of a running game and with pressure in this face.

Game of the week!

This is a really fun matchup between a rolling Greenland passing game and o-line vs. a strong defensive line for Camden. I think the lack of a consistent run threat dooms Greenland in the end, but it's less of a shellacking and more of an inability to control clock at the end of the game, similar to Buffalo's struggles the last couple years.
