Then he saw his first opportunity at RT and got manhandled.

Besides, he really didn't want that opportunity. He was openly saying how he didn't think he could play RT before his start against the Seahawks IIRC and thus he ended up playing just one half.

One player in a string of mentally weak players we went for in early rounds.

Yeah, it was a shame as he had some real physical talent.

If you watched Dillard in college, he was a solid prospect.
He had good technique for a rookie, he was just too weak, especially in the lower half and got pushed around.

I don't know of anyone who at the time though he was a bad pick.
In fact, it was widely regarded as a coup to move up ahead of Texas for him.

It doesn't appear that he did all that was necessary to get functionally stronger.
Sometimes the right pick just doesn't work out.
Now, Reagor over Jefferson ..........😭

Yeah, I can't fault a GM as much when a guy falls in the draft and seems like a great pick. It is when there are obvious picks like Jefferson over Reagor or Hamilton over Davis that I can really fault them.

Howie had to learn that lesson hopefully we drafted good players from now on

Alright ive narrowed down my predictions for who they are taking in the 1st round weather its by staying still or trading up/down. I think the pick will be Verse or Mims.

Both pretty gross.

Hopefully the former and not the latter

Yeah I can deal with verse. Mims would sit for 3 years and he needs to play to learn.

I would love verse, hate mims (even if Lane just announced he's retiring effective immediately).

Best thing I could say about Mims is we probably don’t have to move up to get him, compared to the other Tackles. But yeah wouldn’t love the pick.
